Even when I had my Ram which has a much heavier tailgate I never felt like it needed a 2nd tailgate assist.
?? I think my RAM's tailgate is as light as my Maverick's... I don't mean with its assist, I'm referring to the actual tailgate... Super light....

It takes 15 lb to lift the Mavericks tailgate with the assist attached.

Haven't missed this annoying accidental drop sound for a second since I installed the assist 5 months after getting the truck. The only time it was painful to have was after it froze during a deep freeze after we had rain, and was super slow. Must have taken 5 minutes to fully open.
Since it's only happened once in 4 years, I'm more than satisfied.

I have one (4 kids under 7. Don’t want them to take a tailgate in the head) and in a cold climate I push down on mine more often than not to get it open faster. Two would be a nightmare. I’m not that patient.

I imagine that Ford (and every other manufacturer that offers one with their own branding) tested this more times than we can probably imagine. Anyone here remember IKEA's "Mobelfacta" (sp?) testing demos from the 90s, where they had drawers mechanically open and close thousands of times?

My Tacoma came with tailgate soft open, I liked it when i had things I was holding in my hands. Good way to scratch paint trying to keep it from slamming open
