Was driving through a parking lot the other day and I noticed a guy who had a Maverick was opening his tailgate and it honestly looked like he had two tailgate assists attached one on each side of the tailgate. Honestly, I had never even thought about this. Is it possible that this could be a better solution because it offers more stability or maybe it helps it last longer as there are two rather than one helping lower the tailgate. Does anyone else here have two tailgate assists on their tailgate?

One would need an additional tailgate assist made for the passenger side and none are available.

The driver's side assist won't fit the passenger side as the brackets are asymmetrical.

Wouldn't such a set up also make the opening painfully slow in cooler weather? I'm sure the bracket for a right side mount would be easy for someone with the right tools and talent to create, however.

Not convinced the damper is designed to hold any weight.
It isn't. All it does is slow the tailgate descent until the OEM cables are taut.

Also, I'm sure that the tailgate is already rigid enough that a damper being only on one side is not going to torque it or cause any issues whatsoever.

Yes you do.
For around $30. This is decidedly more convenient and quieter.

Than this happening

Would that give better resistance when lifting the tailgate back in place?

You know - "to pump, you up!"
