the best place to find this out would be to ask a tuner that specializes in ecoboost engine build/rebuild. tuneplus as one example. they would know whether a 2.3 transverse block from a Focus RS or older Corsair (they are now 2.0) is interchangeable with the 2.3 longitudinal block used in the ecoboost mustang and a bunch of body-on-frame trucks and suvs including the Bronco, Ranger and Explorer.first person I’ve seen mention this.. I was wondering the same thing a while ago when people started swapping in 2.3 out of the corsairs. I’d be curious if it was as simple as a manifold swap.
Also would be curious if the built motors from mountune would “bolt” in seeing as they make fully built motors for 2.0 from the ST focus as well as some performance items for stock 2.0 eco boosts. Maybe we’ll start seeing if the cams from them work and can be tuned with the 2.0 in the mavericks.![]()
if I'm Ford I'm interested in using the same block for cost savings, but that's hardly a guarantee that you can use an Explorer or Mustang 2.3 shortblock in a Maverick.
