...I got from 4-8 years on those batteries...
I have gotten good service from Motorcraft batteries, too. I had an F-150 for 22 years. The original MC battery lasted 7 years. The MC battery that replaced it lasted 8 years. Perhaps the new ones are not the same quality as the old ones. And/or new vehicles are more demanding of the battery.

I haven't had 12v battery issues yet with my 6 month old Hybrid. But if I keep it long enough to require a new 12v battery, it will be an AGM.

From what I've read because of the increased electrical loads (touch screens, backup cameras, seat warmers. . . wonderful seat warmers, steering wheel warmers, Bluetooth, etc), most new cars require an AGM battery.

RE: the enhanced flooded battery in the hybrid.
Vote for it being a pretty good maybe even very good battery that may be smaller capacity. But the application being very hard on it. The maverick appears to not let it rest much. I have 26 months on mine. I did not put my noco genius 5 on it for 18 months. But I did drive the truck for one full hour without it going four days without doing so. If I did not drive it for three days I would just put it in ready mode and leave it there for a full hour maybe a little more. After the 18 months I started putting my noco on it every other month leaving it 48 to 72 hours if possible to allow it time for it's optimization routine to do it's thing. After my long drive or noco session I do lock the truck for the recommended 8 hour "BMS learn the battery" session. (Note that the warranty on an 8 year designed 99.9% pure lead deep cycle much larger capacity battery with a steel case to keep the plates from distortion is null and void if the battery is drawn down to 10.5 volts and is not removed from service and properly "recovery charged".). It's obvious that some are having issues whether it's from defective batteries or "leaking" non air gap solid state switches or other things who knows.

Thanks for posting about the "BMS learn the battery" session. I was not aware of that although I do hit the lock button twice when I park it overnight. Something I initially resented and had to learn to do because where I live, I've never locked my vehicle at home, nor had any reason to..

Looks like SoCal may finally enjoy more than 4 days of sun. The weather is showing two weeks of no rain! Haven't seen this since before December 2023! This may allow my Orange tree to finally complete its bloom and sweeten up my oranges. Usually by February I can enjoy them. Right now, they are orange in color but still too tart. As soon as I can, I am going to detail my Maverick and take updated pictures.

Has it been that long? No doubt, we needed the rain to roll back the drought, but it will be nice to see the sun and like you I'm looking forward to sprucing up the Maverick. Probably time for another ceramic spray on coat. Looking forward to seeing your rig.

With all the cars I have owned, I have always kept them up. It's in my DNA. My father did the same thing as well as my grandfather on my mom's side. When I put my 2015 Prius up for sale, I couldn't believe the amount of offers from people who had been looking at it for years. I did all my maintenance and the car was spotless. Plan on treating the Maverick the same way.

Lots going on for you . . . pride of ownership, self-respect and valuing the hard work you put in to purchase the vehicle. Also, and perhaps not as apparent, respect for those who labored to design and build it. In many ways our possessions are an extension of ourselves and how we view the world.
