I went over to the link that explained the difference between EFB and AGM batteries and did not see any special needs for the AGM battery. Did I miss something?
Some have said in this thread the you have to tell forescan what type of battery you are using. AGM has different charging characteristics.

I think the hybrids use the main HV battery to start the ICE and the tiny group 99 is to turn electronics on.
Yep, 12V is used to power up all the computers and other electronics. eCVT essentially doubles as the vehicle's starter - specifically, the smaller MG1 (motor/generator). So 12V is used to send the signal to start up, then MG1 draws from the HVB to start the ICE spinning up.

As current Prius owner, I'm fairly certain any Prius replacement battery could replace the Maverick hybrids'. Really all that battery does (and it is important, don't get me wrong) is power up the system computers and run any 12v items that are powered when system is off. The Prius factory battery (at least the one in the rear cargo area) is AGM. There is not a high demand/drain on the battery in normal use. Compare specs to 2004-14 Prius battery to see if it can be used as a replacement. I do not not my Maverick yet.
Definitely worth investigating. Thanks for sharing that.

Good point. Why isn't Ford using their vast resources to research this?
I propose that at each dealership Ford places a troubleshooting specialist for each model. Oh, wait . . . don't they already have those? Who's not doing their job?

LOL if you think each dealership has some 20+ techs each Master in one specific model.

No, of course I don't. But they do have service techs who should be looking at the various technical problems raised by new models, specifically, the Maverick. Instead, it just seems they are more interested in getting the problem customer to just move on.

And sales people should know how to order a Maverick since they are being paid to sell vehicles.... But, they don't.

Hi, that’s not the way it works, the Dealership techs job is to investigate, troubleshoot, and repair the customers concern as quickly as possible in order to get paid on that job. They are not tasked with root cause analysis.... that’s done upstream.

Thanks for the clarification. I admit I know little of how dealerships interact with the parent company (in this case, Ford). I figure if I'm off on my posts someone with a better understanding will correct me.

Actually, I would be surprised if the Hybrid Maverick is not using a sealed AGM battery, which is what the Prius, which also has its battery located inside the vehicle, uses. Traditional lead-acid batteries are reported to vent trace amounts of hydrogen and hydrogen sulfide, so they are not a good match for inside the vehicle. In the case of the Prius and Maverick, nothing but a piece of plastic separates the battery from the interior.

The hybrid battery is a single port VENTED to the outside of the cabin area.

The Prius also has a vent tube to the exterior, but I assume for an extra layer of occupant safety they still want AGM batteries in case that tube was to get clogged somehow. Little surprised Ford isn’t doing the same.

It is not using AGM; this has been proven over and over in many threads.

Bottom line on 12v battery is not so much whether it's one type or a second type or a third type or ? As it is How can it be recharged to 100% while strictly following each types recharge profile. One type may require hours to move soc from 98.5% to 99.99% taking care to never exceed 100% and most importantly adjusting for ambient temperature. There is more than one way to insure 100% soc at least periodically.

Volkswagen had the battery under the seats
I recall when a co worker had an Audi he said his heavy set mother in law sat in the back. The battery shorted and caused a fire. For some reason that story always bothered me.
