Thanks for the list. When looking at covers I've seen them at 4ft 5in or 4ft 6in. Why? My Lariat Hybrid is not delivered yet🤞hoping soon. Prefer a hard cover but need light weight. Thought about retractable but don't want to lose space if evacuating hurricane. Short and small is bad enough. Really need advice. Also advice/thoughts on quad folds please.
Welcome to the Maverick Truck Club forum from Alaska!

Please post pictures of your new Maverick when it arrives. :camera:

I went with a BAKFLIP MX4 TS.

The Maverick bed is 54.4 in which is just over 4'6". I suspect the manufacturer or whoever listed the add is just bad at math.

If you thinking of a lighter weight cover in terms of ease of use. Each of the tri-folds and hard rollup covers are pretty easy to lift/roll, even one handed.

I owned mid-sized truck with a retractable cover. Never again. It's bad enough to lose nearly a foot of bed on a bigger bed. This really impacts the utility of a short bed like the Maverick.

Retractables can also be a pain to keep clean. Grit, leaves, etc. getting into the tracks can cause the cover to bind up making it difficult to pull in and out.

With all of the above in mind, I went with a hard rollup cover which has enabled getting more value out of the truck.

The Gator SFX trifold isn't on there, which is a soft-trifold cover.
That's the one I bought for it's easy to use, and there wasn't much to pick from when my Maverick arrived on 3/9/22. Going on 4 years old, it still tight, and easy to remove if necessary. Cost was another reason I went with the Gator SFX.

I've been very happy with my Worksport AL3. Sturdy & very easy to install or remove. Low profile/very clean look.

Awesome job on the list !!!!

I got the AL3 which is the aluminum hard panel. No problems and very sturdy.

Hard roll ups are the best
I cant understand why people would get s soft roll up or trifold when you can get a hard cover for 400$, I have had them all, I have had a pickup as a second vehicle for 30/40 years and have had, you know I can't count I have had so many. My new cover on my 25 Lariat is a cheap hard cover it was about 450.00, its 10x better than all the softies, its built like a tank, I got it overnight on Amazon after spending hours looking at them all and gave up, I think their all made in the same factory. I got the Ford trifold with the Ford logo on it for my 22 FX4, it looked great for the first year then was imposable to clean all the dirt out of all the textured lines in it. I used my points and with the sale I paid about 400 for it. Do yourself a favor and get a hard cover, you don't have to spend $1100 anymore there are so many options out there, and you don't have to worry about someone with a pocketknife cutting it or worse jumping on it and so easy to clean.

I'm torn (excuse the pun) between getting a cheap soft cover and a hard cover. The soft would get the job done but may not be secure but I dont plan on keeping valuables in there for long and I hear they do make a lot of sound on travel. The hard would give you less workable space and cover the window when traveling. I might get a cheap soft cover while saving for a hard roll up.
When I got my truck in January I got a Gator SRX soft roll up. For the money ($218) it's fine. Sealed really well actually. What I didn't like is you have to undo the end every time you want to close the tailgate. That, and it does flap around a bit at highway speeds.

Just last night I upgraded to the Worksport AL4 tri-panel flip up. Cost 5x as much ($1079), but really nice made in USA piece. Nice double rubber seals everything seems high quality.

If you're going to keep the truck I would get the AL4.

I actually went the same route and started with a soft roll up. I dont mind the moving in the wind anymore and I dont hear anything in the cab. Im also fine with closing the tailgate stuff. I like being able to put things in there short term without having to worry it will be taken and wont get wet. If I do keep the Mav long term I may consider a hard tri fold but for now I like the options.

Not sure if this was mentioned before, but if you order a tonneau cover from RealTruck.com, make sure you mention you're a member of the MTC and they will give you a discount. You could try this with other suppliers and see if they will throw you a bone too.

I purchased the Rough Country tri fold flip that opens enough to uncover virtually all the bed if necessary. So far . So good. As for leaks, I do see a few drops when I go through a car wash. But it remains dry in normal rain. I think it's good for the price. Installation took about 30 minutes once I figured out the instructions.
Did you get the low profile or the one that rests on top?
