Is there a good reason to add things like tonneau covers from Ford with your order v.s. buying aftermarket products (assuming they are of good quality)? My experience is that factory parts are always way inflated in price. Example, this looks like a great cover and is under $1K. The factory covers are quite a bit more - https://rb.gy/htplu6

If you're willing to install yourself and and confident in your ability to do so, probably worth doing it yourself.

If you don't want to do it yourself, I suspect Ford's pricing isn't far off from what you'd have to pay someone else to handle this for you. I know there's a lot of people on here who have local places that quote lower, but not everyone has that luxury.

Ford pricing is right in line with Bak’s if you’re not paying MSRP. I ordered a Ford hard roll up for $933 plus $50 installation.

FWIW, there are no "factory" tonneau covers made by Ford, only OEM accessories that are sold after the sale or installed by dealers as a part of the sale of a vehicle. That's admittedly nit-picking though. The more interesting part is the kinds of tonneaus Ford chooses to carry and the OEMs that manufacture them.

Each hard tonneaus sold by Ford is manufactured by BAK (MX4/Advantage tri-fold or X2 roll-up). The soft roll-up is make by Truxedo (probably because BAK doesn't sell a soft roll-up).

No soft tri-fold is offered by Ford. I'm guessing because they feel they already have the budget-conscious buyer covered with the soft roll-up option and don't see enough market for the slightly more expensive soft twi-folds.

Also Ford accessories does not sell any retractable toneaus, again I'm guessing because there just isn't enough market to Ford to be interested.

Thanks for the advice. I DIY whatever I can, but I'm sure this is out of my skill set.
