FORD has disabled some of the Patch fixes to SYNC3. Bought new Dec '24, all oil changes DIY. Just had Mobile Service appointment to complete software update recalls (wanted to give time for Ford to workout kinks). Informed by Tech, during service, there was a patch that is disabled by Ford for the SYNC 3 update. Some updates were completed, but for the ones “deactivated” by Ford, “presumably to continue work on these patches”. Warrantee is running out:

can I count on Ford to ‘fix’ the SYNC3 fully before its run out? Will I be responsible for future system flashes attempting fixes? Any knowledge out here?

Maybe @Darryl or someone else has some relevant info here. It would seem Ford would correct when they have the procedures at no cost.

There were some updates that had bugs, and were replaced by later updates, so you might not want the disabled ones. If it’s for a recall, it will always be free to do, warranty coverage or not.

The other possibility is that the tech didn’t follow some procedures laid out by Ford, since some updates won’t install if the 12v battery doesn’t have enough charge.

Is there something wrong with your Sync 3 system?

I have not updated Sync 3 on my 2022 since purchased new. Works great. It's not like they are adding any features, that I know of.

‘24 lariat hybrid purchased June ‘24. AFIK I’ve never gotten any SYNC3 updates ever. And I had my annual service/oil done at the dealership at about 6,000 miles.

Your warranty is not tied to any recalls or software updates that might be performed as a result of a recall.

So you’ll get any software updates for a recall regardless of if you are in warranty or not.

This is tricky. So I'm not 100% certain. If it's an actual recall, it will still be covered when the update resumes. But if it's general warranty, and the warranty runs out, I'm not too certain. I do know that Ford does sometimes provide after warranty assistance where they may cover part or all a repair that occurs shortly after a warranty expires. But that's a case by case basis. And I think it's a one time thing. So a lot of customers won't use it for a minor issue if they think that a major issue may happen soon. One thing our dealership will sometimes do if a vehicle is very close to the expiration date or mileage, but a repair is not possible at the moment is to open a repair order and leave it open until the repair is possible, I THINK that a repair order can remain open for as much as 3 months before Ford requires it to be closed and a new one opened. So if that dealership does that. It may buy you some time.

I have been seeing this message on my Ford website vehicle dashboard for 18 mo. after updating my SYNC3 to 3.4.23188:
“It appears there is an issue with the uploaded log file. Our team will review shortly and update your account to reflect the current version of SYNC in your vehicle. We recommend using WI-Fi updates where available for your vehicle.”
Several attempts to get it rectified by Ford CS and 2 dealers with no results or answers why this is. I’m no longer able to see current version and possible updates on website or if a newer map version is available. WIFI searches for updates but always says it’s on current version. Hoping you have better luck with your issue. I have an appt. for yearly service later this month and will bring it up again.
