I asked my dealer for an update yesterday and they indicated they haven't had ANY scheduled for 23 yet.

Either Ford is mad at them or the whole allocation this is Phooey..

Maybe I will have a chance on my XL, I just have to wait for all the "money makers" to give Ford their profit dollars before breaking even on mine!

Well if that is the case then I would say that the info we were given last fall was way of base. I remember Tim Bartz was saying that you should just order a straight trim level with no extras as this was your best bet of getting your vehicle built. Looking at all the peeps saying they got their vin and their vehicle was in production that appears not to be the case. If I knew that I would have ordered one with all the bells and whistles. And PS this Ford allocation system sucks.
I ordered what I wanted the first day Sept 2022. Xlt lux hybrid. I left off things ill add later like mud flaps. Bed liner & bed extender. Got a build date March 6

A couple questions and an observation or two.

Is a dealer allocation broken down by model, or is it the total number of Ford vehicles the dealer is in line for?

I too went for the no frills XLT hybrid (9/17/22), thinking easier to build, more likely to build. I'm PC19.

Do dealers have the liberty of assigning priority codes to suit their needs, i.e., putting the orders they most want to fill in front of the less attractive orders?

Some have rightly pointed out that it is not a simple world for Ford, so some of our disappointments are not a simple matter for them to correct. But I think that there are a couple things that could be done which would build a better relationship between customers and Ford/Dealers.

First dealers should be required to notify customers who are placed beyond their likely allocation. And they should give customers a number reflecting how far out they are. They can easily add that some who fell outside may end up inside due to cancellations (assuming they do not grab them for the lot).

Second, Ford should go beyond the constraints list and when a particular constraint has reached the expected limit, they should let everyone know. So for example when they schedule what they believe to be all the hybrids, they should say so. They can easily add that they will increase it if they find a way.

Those two things would go a long way to allowing many to get beyond the idea that they are being held up by their hose.

Yes dealers have different allocations for each model so they could have 20 Maverick allocations for the month and only 4 Bronco allocations. It has to do with their recent and annual sales history. I don't think Ford can even explain it to you.

Also regarding the priority codes, yes dealers can move priority codes to meet their needs, which would be unethical, but possible. Dealers can assign retail orders anything from 10-19, the default is 19. It only helps the chances at THEIR dealership though, not overall. If an order is too constrained, Ford could also still pass over it for a lower priority one.

I'm not getting any emails from Ford for some reason, but my Maverick is finally in production according to vehicle tracking website. Of course I've only been waiting 463 days. I think they are trying to wrap up the MY22 rollovers before they get to the MY23 orders. Although I have seen on this site MY23 orders in production or delivered. I'm hoping for a March 2023 delivery. Who knows.

Well I've got myself in a bit of a nice-to-have pickle. I ordered my Mav on 9/16 with no hopes of getting a build date until at least late summer. So a few weeks ago I test drove, fell in love with, and bought this Ranger (and got a steal on it, 2.5k under MSRP):

Ford Maverick 📬 1/26/23 Scheduling Email Received Group [EMAILS NOW ARRIVING!] ranger

I had it on my to-do list to call my dealer this morning and cancel my Maverick order. I checked my email before calling and lo and behold my freakin' Maverick order got scheduled at midnight last night!

Now my predicament is do I sell the Ranger and get the Maverick? I could basically recoup everything selling to Carvana. Would I regret getting rid of the Ranger? I love everything about the truck, except the MPGs (which aren't HORRIBLE, but not great [~22]), but I also really want the Maverick. The gov agency I work for just instituted a new telework policy, so I'll barely have to commute to DC anymore, which alleviates a lot of the fuel mileage appeal the Maverick had.

My wife is also heavily pressuring me to keep the Ranger because she likes it a lot. If only I could afford both...

Anyway, I'll step down off my pedestal of privilege here. Congrats to everybody who got scheduled!

Well isn't the lux a add on? I ordered the xlt the first day Sept 2022 also. I guess it must solely be the dealer allocation thing why I don't have a build date.

Does the reason you bought the Maverick still apply? If so, stick with it. If not, then weigh the options.

Careful on the telework thing. That may not last, depending on the sector you work in. Mine will because I'm an IT project manager and none of my team actually works locally anyway. I was remote before the pandemic. But there are a lot of people operating under the impression their jobs will forever be remote when many businesses have literally just been passing the buck until the pandemic officially ends. Your mileage appeal may still be there.

I'm assuming for the first question you meant Ranger, since that's the proverbial bird in the hand. I actually went and test drove a stupidly marked up Maverick at a local dealer before committing to the Ranger. Really liked it, but I wrote a big list of pros and cons for each car and the Ranger narrowly won out. The dealer I bought the Ranger from also gave me a very good deal on the truck. I was prepared to walk if they didn't meet my admittedly ridiculous offer, but they did.

Regarding the telework thing, I'm an engineer/plant inspector for the Federal Government in DC, and our union literally just finished negotiating with the agency to expand telework to 8 days/pp (up from 6). This is the permanent policy now, so I'm safe there for a while. I'll be sure to report back with what I decide; definitely going to be mulling this over for a while. Either way, it's not a bad problem to have!
