Hey everyone,

Wanted to see if anyone else has run into this issue yet. I noticed the rear window weatherstrip molding on my Tremor is actively splitting and separating right from the window frame on the Left an Right rear doors.

So it feels a bit early for rubber trim to be failing and falling apart like this already!

A couple of quick questions for the group:

  • Warranty: Has anyone had success getting this replaced under the standard factory 3yr/36k bumper-to-bumper warranty, or did the dealer try to write it off as "wear and tear"?
  • DIY Fix: If you've fixed this yourself?
Appreciate any insight or part numbers if you've got 'em!

Yep. Mine look the same. There are several threads on this. I stretched the rubber in hot to close the gap and it worked for a bit but shrunk back to the way it was. I am out of warranty, so mine was not covered. I still have it, as someone posted it is a bit labor intensive to replace it. Kind of a stupid defect in this day and age that you can't just chalk up to it being a budget vehicle.

Man, that's incredibly frustrating to hear, but thanks for the heads-up about the rubber shrinking back even after heating it up!! Saved me the wasted effort of trying to stretch it out! I am going to try and get Ford to warranty it...

Thank you for dropping those links! Glad to see I'm definitely not crazy and that it’s a known issue on the forums.

Sucks that it's such a common problem, but having these threads to reference gives me some good ammo when I head into the dealership to argue for a warranty replacement. Appreciate the help!

Thanks! Did you get yours replaced Glen Baker LLC under warranty?
Nope
It's only on the passenger side.
The driver side is still fine.
Maybe if we lived in an area with a lot of rain I'd think about it. My 3/36 warranty is probably up. The next owner can worry about it.
I chalk it up to the Maverick being Ford's cheapest vehicle. Built with parts from the cheapest bid vendors.🤷‍♂️

I haven't brought my Maverick back to the dealer once since I bought it.
Edited: Not even for the recalls yet.
I'm pretty sure the 3/36 warranty is expired.
On on rough roads, It has the infamous dash rattle
After the experience I had with Toyota taking my dash apart because of the Takata airbags debacle.
I wasn't going to have the service department rip apart my dash over a rattle I can live with.
I bought the cheapest vehicle Ford sold.
I wasn't expecting *LTD quietness or a diamond cutting ride.

Good day

I am one of the people that has posted on one of the other threads, and we did have our rear window trims replaced back in the beginning of May.

I brought it in, they looked at it, ordered the parts for both sides as well as for a whistling drivers window seal and made an appt to install.

Just remember to read your receipt for the work...it said on mine to keep the windows shut so that the new seals/trim adhesive could set in the proper position.

I read my work order, I followed the clear directions and everything is wonderful again!

Gotta take advantage of the warranty while it is in effect! 😀

Have a great one,

Andy

Edit to add...my truck has a nice, comfortable garage (just over freezing temp in winter) to stay in when not in use.

Thanks for the awesome tip, Andy! I’ll definitely make sure to keep the windows rolled up tightly while the adhesive cures if they swap them out. Glad to hear the new seals are holding up perfectly for you!
