Great video and thanks for posting. I'll never do "off-roading" but it's reassuring to know that the likelihood of me becoming truly "stuck", should be minimal with the Maverick!

Oooh I hope they'll roll this out as an OTA update on earlier trucks! It's just a software update to the traction control program
If it's just a software update, it should be possible.
Does anyone know if an update is an option, is available, and if so, how to arrange to get it?

The only information I could find is NOT official, but according to the robot continium, the changes made to the '26 for the improvement in low traction capabilities:
"The torque transfer modification for the 2026 Ford Maverick Hybrid AWD involved both software and hardware changes, including the addition of a torque-vectoring rear differential * to enhance performance. " I hope it's just software, but it doesn't sound like it.. 😞

EDIT:
* - Highly unlikely based on the fact that the test vehicle was an XLT and the diff mentioned is not available on the XLT. Stupid Robot Fallacy Suspicion Level Index (SRFSLI) = 9.99375

I just happened on that video this morning before work. Always nice to see a manufacturer taking action to develop mid-life improvements. The original video performance wasn't all that bad - he figured it out eventually, and FORD could have certainly left the improvements for the next new platform.

From what they said in the video, it sounded like it was for 2026 and onwards...but those of us with 2025's (and wr love ours!), we can still hope.

We don't do off-roading but do back trails etc for going fishing (or if I am lost ;-).

It would be nice to have a bit more of an easy time of it if necessary...oh, and better performance in heavy snow etc would be the best outcome for us!

Actually, the good news was that the '25 wasn't too bad as long as traction control was disabled.
I have a Subaru Forester that needs TC disabled as well to get through mud easily.

AI-generated bullshit. The trick differential is, again, only available on Tremors and Lobos for 2026.

For those too busy to actually watch, he specifically says it at 13:20 in the clip
"It does feel a lot more like a Bronco Sport Badlands off-road now, which is impressive because it doesn't have that twin-clutch rear diff; it's all in the software"

99% sure this is only a software update to the stability / traction control logic that applies the brakes to free-spinning wheels in order to fake the effect of a LSD

My thought that it may not apply to 2025's is that Ford stated in their reach out to the host was that the changes are being implemented from 2026 onwards...

I would think that if they were considering on improving the 2025s software they might have stated it in the applicable paragraph, but they did not.

This does not mean ours can not be updated, it just means we can hope that they will eventually be, maybe even OTA!

🤔 I wonder if I ask The Fast Lane Truck, if they employ AI for their videos. Do you think they would give me a truthful answer?

I asked him that. He said "Everything I say is a lie."
