Wow. Why would anyone order a truck without adding a $100 hitch?
In my case our '22 Order never got built and was transferred to a '23 truck. And they left off all kinds of stuff we wanted when they submitted the '23 order. :(

At that period in time we were just fortunate to get the truck at MSRP, many dealers were charging thousands in extra fees so we couldn't really do much about it.

When Ford resubmitted your order
Were you invited back to the dealership so that you could review the order before it was submitted?
Was there no communication of your 22 order being converted to a 23?
Was there a monetary deposit?

Probably several reasons. In my case, after months and months from ordering, my sales guy called me and said there were supply chain issues with the OEM hitch receiver And the part was being reserved for higher trim levels where it came standard with it. He said if I dropped the receiver, my truck would get built. So I did and it did.

So far, I haven't needed the receiver. But if I do, I will get a local body shop to order and install the OEM parts. Of course it will cost more then when ordering it initially, but I didn't have a choice, when trying to get my truck built.

Someone who knows that a fwd truck is useless for retrieving a boat and trailer on a steep launch ramp and has two other 4wd vehicles much more capable for that use or any other towing requirement.

But,,,,, the hitch on a FWD does come in handy for things like bed extenders and bike racks. Not everyone tows a boat (although I do).

Same with the $20 WiFi thing!

I didn't read all the comments. Just wanted to say that they reduced your ground clearance and you may have a problem getting any trailer level with the hitch. Good chance of scraping connected trailer when going into a driveway or any unlevel situation. Make them fix it.

I haven’t towed anything in forever. I don’t ever see myself towing anything in the future. That being said, when I ordered my ‘23 hybrid, the $100 hitch was a no-brainer.

Not necessarily, may not be as good as a 4 wheel drive, but it beats a rear-wheel-drive vehicle, I've seen some spectacular fails with that setup.

The OEM they wanted to charge like $1200 and the aftermarket was $900.
Like I said the one they installed will work fine. They saved you 300 bucks -- even if they could have done a much better job explaining your options.
You can ask them about doing it over with the actual factory hitch, but it's not likely they'll do it without further cost to you.

Actually RWD is better than FWD as long as they keep their tires dry. The weight of the trailer and the boat on the rear axle provides traction where it is actually shifting the weight distribution away from the front wheels.

LOL Glen I never pegged you to link Josh and most especially Cloe!
I just saw the YouTube last night and thought it was humorous and it kind of fit with the front wheel drive rear wheel drive debate. Having lunch and recovered my share of boats my lifetime.
In my opinion.
Front wheel drive will get the job done on a dry ramp
Rear wheel drive is better.
I bought my first speed boat when I was 16. Back then the only domestic front wheel drive cars were the Oldsmobile Toronado and the Cadillac Eldorado
