Different folks I suppose. I don't trust myself when I'm out enjoying nature. I don't wanna worry about a damn thing aside from how to get up that next big rock or which side of the river is safest. That and making sure there's enough daylight left.Ahh, yea I don't have that level of trust. Keys, wallet, and phone stay on me regardless of circumstances. Canyoneering and kayaking and backcountry hiking, they stayed in a dry-bag and hard-case on my person. For amusement parks they get chained onto the belt and dropped inside of a fastened pocket.
Even with a console safe I doubt I would leave them in my vehicle. I understand the use-case for the keypad now though, I'm just not of the temperament to have ever even considered using it for that![]()
The way I see it the vehicle is insured, has a GPS tracker, I can cancel credit cards, etc. I'm also one of those people who locks up anything that has a lock, no matter where I am. That includes my credit file. Anything can be opened if you try hard enough, but locks exist for a reason and will certainly slow down or all out deter most individuals. My locks are always locked simply out of habit.
In fact, now that I'm forty no one ever asks for my ID. That combined that with the fact that we can pay with our phones, Fitbits, smart watches, etc... I might leave my wallet in the car for weeks on end. Probably not the best idea.
