i stand corrected
You might be thinking of the CVT (continuously variable transmission), which is only on the hybrid, rather than the CV (constant velocity) axle which is what transfers power to the wheels anywhere you have independent suspension. Bunch of joints and whatnot so it can move up and down with the wheel while still providing power, and all those moving parts can wear out or go bad.

Really hoping this is resolved on 2025 models.

Nothing but positive here. Ford lover. First new vehicle: 1991 Ranger. Drove it 10 years, 135000 miles, zero issues. It was the base el cheapo model. No AC, no CC, no Power windows, and no rear bumper! AM FM radio, period. 4 banger with 4 speed manual, $8000. 2nd new vehicle: Econoline E150. Drove it 20 years, 220,000 miles. Rebuilt tranny at 175,000 miles, replaced the alternator at about 150,000 miles. Bought my 2007 mustang GT in September 2006. Still have it, zero problems. Original Battery lasted 13.5 years. Not a misprint. Dealership couldn't believe it, tried to sell me a new one at 11 years even though it tested perfect. 4th new vehicle: 2015 Transit T150, still have it. 113,000 miles, zero issues. Original batteries. U joints were recalled and replaced but were never an issue. Installed a propane system at 4500 miles and love it. Last fill up $1.84/gallon! So I expect my Maverick, when I finally get it after the rearview camera recall is fixed, to give me a trouble free ownership experience. If Ford can sell me a Ranger in 1991 for $8000 that gives me no trouble I expect that from my 2024 Maverick that I will pay 4 times more money for. I know what cheap is. A 2024 Maverick is not.

Well to get back on track, I picked up the truck today with the one new cv axle. Was told the other one is about 1 month out. Before the repair the shaking was an 8/10 and now it’s about 4/10. I hope the 2nd cv axle will take care of it but I have my doubts. Also the new cv axle looks much more beefy and makes the original look like it belongs on a power wheel.
I am sorry to those who feel their Maverick is part of their family and were offended by me expressing my opinions based on actual issues I’ve had with it.
FYI before I hit 20k I had to have my engine and transmission pulled to replace the engine dampener. My entire truck was shaking and sounded like a 50 year old diesel tractor and was throwing misfires. All part of the Ford experience? Maybe….

Mine has been good since they replaced the CV axles. I think they only replaced the front ones so I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before the rears go out as well. We shall see.

You have rear CV axles in your hybrid?

Anyone in this thread have to pay for their CV replacements?

Any reports on cost?

OP, how many miles were you (sorry if I've forgotten) did you say sub 20k? I'm at 50k now and feel it might be a good idea to consider the likelihood of doing them sooner than later. Lots of gravel roads near me and I prefer them to the assholes on pavement that can't drive unless 30km/h over

I am at 60k currently but symptoms started around 50k. Between diagnosis and backordered parts it took that long. Under 60k you pay nothing. For me if it’s over 60k I pay a $100 deductible with my extended warranty. I remember hearing the part is somewhere around $200 but the labor brings the total to $500-$600. If you have mechanical ability it’s not a terrible diy job.

My mechanical ability is certainly not there yet.

I am working on it, but certainly not confident to the point of doing this.

My rear brakes are at 4mm according to my last "the works" so might see about having that done as its been about 5k miles since then, and do it all together

Surely, I need to make sure that it is a problem. Need to test out shuddering during heavy acceleration, it certainly is a thing during heavy braking but that might be ABS or something as I'm not typically looking at the dash while stomping the brake

Need to also get it up on the ramps and have a look underneath for leaking, but the service report says they check that every time

I am certainly quite happy to be over 80k kms without issues! But I am getting concerned they may be on their way

I appreciate the information from this site.
Working as a reliability statistician for many years in agriculture, manufacturing and electronics I have seen data across industries and brands. Everything manufactured fails at some point. The big question is when? Here is a post that explains failure metrics.
https://www.logicmonitor.com/blog/whats-the-difference-between-mttr-mttd-mttf-and-mtbf
Probably more information than anyone needs. But it boils down to this: everything fails. Plan for it.
Have contingency plans and backup plans. Acceptance of the planned failure will minimize the frustration.
