I have tried all kinds of stuff. Ultrasonic, dryer sheets, irish spring soap, mothballs. The only thing that works has been the spring traps. Try and clear any clutter in your garage and clear any vegetation around the outside. Maybe put some bait boxes outside around the garage. Not the best for the environment. But they work.
I have a cottage I close up in the winter and have tried what you listed to no avail and even had a mouse nest built inside the drier sheet box with sheets still in it. This year I turned the radio on with the volume up and will report back in the spring as to how that works. A friend swears by it. He said the ultra sonic gizmos work for a while but the mice get used to it whereas the radio is ever changing noise.

Doesn't necessarily work. Our cats used to bring mice into the house as pets.
Only feed cat it's favorite food when it brings a dead mouse next to it's dish.

Our cats weren't brining in dead mice. They were bringing in live mice and letting them go in the house as toys.

My Dad had a cottage. But he could care less about the mice. When he sold the place in his old age I had to clean it out. All I can say I think dead mice are a good deterrent.

I know there are lots of posts where mice are mentioned but I didn't see any that answered the question as to how/where are they getting into my Maverick? I have a 23 EB, Lariat. It is always garaged but I still get the occasional mouse making its way into my truck. I don't keep any kind of bird or pet food in the garage that might attract mice, but they still keep coming. I have traps set up in the garage, where I catch one every other month or so, and, as of yesterday, in my truck (I caught one there overnight last night). Even though I have a newer garage that is well sealed from the outside intruders they find a way in.

Does anyone know for sure where they are gaining access? If so, is there an aftermarket screen I can install? I had something like that installed by Toyota when the mice chewed up the AC unit on my wife's Prius a few years ago.

I appreciate any feedback on tried-and-true methods of stopping the mice.
May have been mentioned out here but I had good luck with peppermint scented bags I got at home depot. I also started driving the car that had been sitting a lot so that's probably part of it also

You're not supposed to feed cats, they lose all respect for you. Friends will talk behind your back saying you're "whipped"

Someone told me a while ago that mice do not like lights. So, I have 2 lights on a timer in the garage that go on at dusk off in AM around sunup. Well it worked for me, as we would have occasional mice. Haven't seen any evidence of visitors. About 5 or so years now. I keep a car and a Harley in the garage, so very happy at this point.

I wonder if Ford used some kind of environment friendly natural products on your wires that attracts the mice? If you don't keep food anywhere inside your truck I'd say this could be an issue.

I think the insulation is processed from the corn kernels left after the alcohol fermentation.

Well the big issue is, don't know if it's true. Is that the manufacturers are using wiring with soy based insulation. And the rodents love it. So far my Mav has been ok. But have had issues with other cars that I park closer to the woods. The mav is parked in a pretty ooen area.

Get some mouse repellent spray in addition to the other traps.

The house I grew up in, my mom still live there, has an very old block foundation. We had mice in the basement all the time growing up. About 5 years ago, I found this and now she sprays around the foundation / doors late summer and fall and never has mice anymore. Very effective for her.

It contains peppermint oil and cinnamon oil, which mice apparently don't like.

This is the reverse engineered and cost effective formula that I’ve been using for several years. It’s a dual taste and smell repellent and works extremely well. All the items are easily acquired from Amazon. You’ll need one 32 oz, opaque spray bottle. Make sure it’s opaque because essential oils break down faster with light. Fill with 32oz of water. Using separate glass eye droppers, add 4 drops of GARLIC essential oil, 20 drops of PEPPERMINT essential oil, 4 drops of ROSEMARY essential oil, and 4 drops of a high scoville scale PEPPER EXTRACT. I go with a very high scoville pepper extract comprised of 1 million scoville for greater deterrence but, be careful handling this kind of high heat pepper extract. Lastly, add one teaspoon of CASTILE SOAP. Make sure you use Castile soap which is pure, fragrance free soap. This is your emulsifier to get the oils and water to mix. Shake well and spray on surfaces you want to deter rodents. Make sure you shake well before each use. The mixture is largely clear and non staining. Just make sure you don’t get it near your face or on your hands and touching your face. For reference, I’ve included a pic of my product line up. You should be able to get a couple of years of product mix from these quantities and they are biodegradable. This absolutely works for me.

This cabin air filter is from my Dodge Caravan. I had lots of problems with mice and rats.

Dryer sheets never worked for me. Once I bought this peppermint spray I haven't had any more trouble. When I bought my Maverick I started doing the same thing and I've never had a any trouble.

I spray about twice a week a couple squirts in the front wheel wells and one under the engine.
