Remove panic button from Maverick key fob (DIY how-to disassemble)

I have no need for panic button so I removed it & will never have the accidental panic push. Takes 5 mins to disassemble fob & remove button. Everyone has different wants & needs...

This. I do not use it and never will. Have no need for it. I have also accidentally set it off several times at places that were really inappropriate to be honking a gd horn. The last time it accidentally was triggered, I could not get it to stop with the fob. The fob will not even unlock The driver's door, so I had to use the metal key to get that open. Then I had to put the key in the ignition and start the truck to get the stupid panic alarm to shut off. What a crock!

Programming a new key fob is free. You can do it yourself. It takes only a couple of minutes. Cutting the key itself can be done by a competent locksmith. It cost me $75 to have the two metal keys cut.

Yeah but if you screw up one of your keys your sol on programming your new one for free unless you already had one made before.

I've been wanting to disable the GD panic button since I took delivery of this truck and set it off the first evening the truck was in the garage.

One question, though. What did you use to remove the button off the board?

I just have my panic set to require two button pushes to activate

Why would you remove the button? That is how you find your car in a large parking lot. Hit the panic button.

I just hit the lock button twice and the lights flash and horn honks once if lock is successful or twice if lock is not successful.

Is it something with that specific keyfob? I have the Lariat with keyless entry and have my fob in a case, but I have never found the panic button to be easy to push by accident (or intentionally for that matter).

If I had FORScan readily available, I would re-program the panic button to do nothing.

Probably the same reason you'd put a cargo net on your lariat's front door panels with self tapping screws running through the plastic door panel.🫣🫣

I truly fail to see the analogy, but perhaps others do.

Not sure why one would want to do this. Yeah, I've accidentally set off the panic button maybe 3 times in the 2 years I've had the truck, but seems to me the advantage of having a method to scare off intruders, attract attention in an emergency, or merely finding your vehicle, far outweigh the problem of accidentally setting it off.

There are reasons why. Here's one that happened to me twice:

Try setting it off accidentally when you're parked right by someone's bedroom where they are sleeping, only to find the GD thing won't shut off until you: Manually unlock the door, put the key in the ignition and turn on the truck. This happened to me twice. And I do not want it to happen again. I don't need the stupid panic button. And when I park my truck in a parking lot, I note where it is, so I won't annoy people by rudely setting off an annoying alarm, just to find my truck later.

Mine was accidentally setting it off before sunrise getting ready to go into the woods to hunt. Property owner didn't say anything but I'm sure they weren't happy. I wasn't gonna wait until they said something.
Button came off after the second time it happened.
