We average 42 mpg, with normal driving and 10000 miles on a 2024 engine/hybrid.

9200 miles here on the clock. I've been averaging around 45mpg for quite a while . About 50/50 city highway(mostly state highways at 60-65 mph. ) I have never tried eco or sport mode-satisfied with standard mode. Last tank was 117 miles on 2.5 gallons (refill). I don't hold up traffic or drive below speed limits, but have been guilty of coasting up to stoplights-not racing to a stoplight and jamming on the brakes like so many stupid drivers I've seen lately. ;-)

I have been at 45 mpg since I purchased the truck on December 1st of last year. Having a lite right foot is the key here.....

I've always been a calm braker it turns out (seeing the coach during initial usage) - I keep using it because I'm always surprised how much regen was actually in a fast stop sometimes - I'll think that had to be barely anything, and then it pops up 53% or whatever.
I think I hit a 20% when enough time for car in front & me to make what was a green light I knew was about to change - I guess they knew too because they didn't keep accelerating to limit to make it easily but I thought they might. They slammed I slammed. Trunk tool chest slammed.
It‘s funny when you think about it. We were taught not to ride the brakes as it was bad for the pads. Now you ride the brakes or coast with regenerative braking. My wife always bugs me because I back of the throttle early and coast to a stop. She does not understand how regenerative braking works and I don’t see why we need to rush to the light and wait longer?

Well, firstly stay married is my advice, haha. But darn it if I'm not enjoying that part of divorce. No more backseat drivers, "too fast", "too slow", yada yada. Any dates I go on now, it's a easy test. Are they impatient for nothing? Some Mavericks just can't be tamed. 41.6 avg mpg lately.

In my new maverick lariat hybrid at the 1000 mile mark with a mixture of city and highway driving I’m getting about 35mpg. I’ve had some folks report on YouTube and chat rooms crazy numbers like 45mpg etc. am I missing something? Does my driving generally suck or are there better ways to improve fuel economy? :)
You will always get better MPG at less than highway speeds. If you do a constant 25-35 mph with little stop and go you will certainly top 40 mpg. At highway speeds the gas engine is doing most if not all of the work and the mpg goes down.

PMS (pretty much so)

I can't get less than 45 MPG in city driving. My truck won't let me. But by using slippery mode and a few good habits I routinely get 53-55 MPG in the city.

Not much technique for steady speed highway driving other than the #1 factor, slowing down just a little.

Adding 3 to 5 minutes to your trip can save $3 to $5 per tank.

I found that pumps and or quality of regular fuel differ I have used 3 stations. my last fill over 600 plus miles roughly 45mpg. My trips average mostly 46 my best 55. And that was country rds 55 limit stopping at one city going to another coming home short drive to the interstate and then a country road to my road. I would suggest checking different stations I do follow the speed limits except for the interstate 60 65 mph in the slow lane mostly. sometimes if im not in a hurry and there is no one behind ill drive 40mph. on state roads.

Over time you will figure out what works for you with better miles per gallon. Local driving by easing up on the gas pedal after reaching your 30 to 40 mph should keep you in the 40+ area with no problem with a hybrid.

even for the same brand, you're going to see a 3% (~1.5 mpg) or so difference between pure gasoline nd the 10% ethanol bend.

How about a worst mileage? After the first ≈6000 miles where I averaged a solid 39.0 MPG (calculated via the Fuelly app), my fuel economy took a nosedive on parts of a long, loaded trip across half the continent:

A little context here. The Mav had two kayaks (12 & 13' long) and a Yakima cargo box up top, the rear seat and tonneau-equipped be loaded with cargo, while towing roughly 1400# of motorcycles and trailer. That abysmal tank was from driving about 72 MPH eastbound on I-80 in Nebraska, while fighting solid ≈30 MPH crosswinds.

Here's a shot from when I was re-routed to avoid a winter storm.

My lifetime, overall, across 92k kms is 5.8l/100kms

My best tank was 1188kms with 42 left in it, and I had just gotten off the highway so I could've dragged that out better, but I got off the highway to get gas

My single best trip was 3.9l/100kms across a little over 180kms, which is about 60mpg if I recall

After my first 2,500 miles my hand-calculated average is 36 mpg.

That is with about 75% tollway driving at speeds between 70-80 mph. Plus it’s ALL been during the coldest months of the year.

At first I was upset that my average was below the estimate. But after reading all these posts I know it’s actually decent for mostly tollway driving during cold weather.

I thought at first my truck was a dud…until I got a trip reading of 70 mpg on a warm day of city driving. That’s what made me relax and realize my truck is just fine.
