I feel for you. I've had a hard time reaching Ed via email, phone, or text. He responds sparingly which makes it frustrating. I've been told that once my order goes in for production there's no backing out. In other words, if I put down a deposit for the CD then all is lost whether I want it or not. The car will go to my local dealer. I still have a few days to think it over while waiting for Ed to tell me how much the deposit for CD going to be. So many uncertainties given the material shortage with Ford kinda make me not have confidence in this whole thing.
Have you had the opportunity to see one in person or test drive? Local dealer in Lubbock has one and thats what made me pull the trigger. It's sad that in a state known for trucks. I had to buy out of state for a deal! This will be my first truck and new vehicle in over 10 years. So. I'm really looking forward to getting it! What did you order? I went for XLT hybrid Lux package. Yes, I know it will be a long wait. But, I'm patient.

Got myself an XL hybrid with copilot and bed liner. Trying to keep it in low 20K since this will be my commuter. A local dealer has an XL AWD for demo. So many people were test driving the truck so I didn't have time to drive it. Gonna stop by again some time this week to check it out if it's still available.

I had no issues with Ed. He replied same day to me, got DORA to me, price sheet, and ordered all the same day. Even got the email from Ford on that same day.

Guess you lucked out. I must have reached him on a bad day. Would have been nice to save 4 as opposed to 3 percent. But, Granger stepped up and took care of me in just a couple of hours. Getting my order put in on the 12th when I originally contacted Ed would have been nice. It's a long wait either way! Congrats!

My issue with Granger, who was my first choice, was the deposit. I feel like there's no excuse for it.

But yes, long wait ahead.

Well, I gave Chapman a chance. But, Granger has my business. All it took was a couple of emails, a signed order and now Ford has confirmed my Maverick order. I had originally emailed Chapman October 12th. I got my quote a week later, however it was radio silence for awhile. Then Monday I get an email saying they no longer can offer CD and asked if I still wanted to order. I replied yes...but...nothing. I would have preferred 4% below invoice...but...3% below and CD to Texas and a responsive sales team has won me over! Thanks Granger!!!

Damn,
You are right. Contacted again and said they didn't do that. Did say I could cancel since they provided wrong info. But, Granger is still closer to Lubbock than Chapman. 800 compared to 1700 miles. Just afraid if I cancel now, chances of getting hybrid order in would be next to zero. Plus, I do not want to pay Msrp or above. Decisions Decisions

If you pay MSRP and save on shipping and taxes, it might even out.

Your best bet might be Chapman if you can get courtesy shipping

The tax situation is a great point but my cheap/stupid ass is thinking of driving there, trading in my vehicle, and driving back (maybe taking a slightly different route).

Would I still get the tax savings if I traded in there?
I believe you would IF your trade in is shown on the bill of sale and the net purchase price is clearly shown which is what the tax is based on. BUT CHECK WITH TEXAS TO SEE WHAT YOU NEED TO DO.

You should. I bought Chebbie in Maryland, traded for it, and paid the tax on the sell price after the trade. The same if I would have done the deal in North Carolina. Best way to get the answer is to call your local DMV office.

Ed had told me that they no longer offer courtesy delivery due to their fleet manager being overwhelmed. Hopefully he wasn't just pulling my chain for some reason.

He also told me that Chapman was going to stop courtesy shipping in the future. He has worked with courtesy shipping in the past.

I ordered from Ed at Chapman on 11/30, got an 'In production" email from Ford on 12/02. Built 01/25 and delivered on 02/07 and was Courtesy Dropped to Houston, Tx. Ed was great, communication excellent and the price was what he quoted on 11/30 with a $28 adj to doc fee he said went up after first of the year.
