I just discussed this registration process with the dealer, and the dealer said the process cost is $1,641 and the title fee is $240

so I wish to do the registration in myself, then how much do I expect ?

Would you please help me estimate cost registration in Texas?

You will pay Texas Use tax (Sales tax) on your vehicle of 6.25 %. A title application that is around $30. A portion of the inspection fee that depends on whether or not your registration is in an area that requires smog testing ( DFW, Houston, etc.). The $50.75+ registration fee along with about 6 bucks of other fees. If you had a trade-in, the sales tax is only for the price of the car, less the trade in value. I have no clue about what happens with the sales tax if you paid tax for your Maverick in the state where you purchased it.

I live in Texas and bought 2 cars out of state. Because of an agreement Florida charged half of the Texas state tax. In Oklahoma they didn’t charge any local state tax but I paid it upon registration. It worked out fine in both cases.

If you traded something in and kept the plates off the trade in you can for a fee ( I think, but not sure = $10 transfer them to your new truck).

On sales tax you pay the additional difference of Texas and amount you paid.

Also the tag fee is twice the annual since it is good for two years. Unless you transfer your already paid for tags on your trade in to new truck.

It's about $70-$100 depending on if you're registering in an emissions county or not.

I was just renewing one of my vehicle's registration so this was easy to find:

I live in Harris county in Houston.
and I bought the maverick from Granger Ford, IOWA

If I do the registration by dealer, then is there anything do I need to do for myself?

As @DocV said, the dealer will need to take care of the sales tax in the transaction and hopefully apply for title for you as well.

At work, we purchased a vehicle from Illinois to title/register in Harris County. Had to get the safety & emissions inspection performed here in TX before the state would register it. It wasn't a big deal because the Illinois dealer put a temp tag on it which allowed enough time for the inspection and registration paperwork to clear.

Someone reported that they had difficulty when their paperwork was submitted to the wrong county of residence due to their residence being in a different taxing district. Clerk returned paperwork and it had to be resubmitted to proper county. I think you will be ok with Harris county and Houston. Does the city limits of Houston lie totally within Harris county? It delayed his paper work several weeks.
