Fix the title, Ford isnt holding it hostage. Once its on the rail its on the shipping companies.

Be patient - mine sat a few weeks in the Ford yard - you will get it soon!!! And you will love it!Hi Everyone! I had hoped to introduce myself in my first post as a happy first time Ford customer with pics of my new 2024 HPR Maverick Hybrid. Unfortunately it’s not to be!
I ordered my Lariat July 3,, built Sept 4, Shipped Sept 9. It’s been sitting in a New Boston MI Ford holding area (90 miles from my dealer) for over 3 weeks! They’ve told the dealer 3 weeks in a row that it will ship the following week! Ford won’t let the dealer drive down and get it. It’s been assigned for the past 3 weeks to an auto hauler who won’t return my dealer’s phone calls.
Please let me know if this is just standard Ford operating procedure and I need to get used to it or if my situation is a fluke.
Thank you for letting me vent a bit!
PS - If anyone has any suggestions for me to get my truck, please let me know. I’ve purchased numerous accessories for it that I learned about here.
I don't mean to take this off topic, but how many will they hold? My vin is 2683 and scheduled to be built on 11/11. Will all those built in 11/11 be on hold, if you know? I will google how many Ford can make in a day, but in the mean-time, that's a lot of vehicles in a parking lot. And thats just the first week, then we get into the next week...That isn't this. If Ford holds the Maverick, it is the 2025, not the 2024. Also, they will hold them in Mexico.....at the plant holding lots, so they can easily repair any big issues they find that would otherwise result in a recall situation. Not ship them to the US where any issues discovered would need to be handled at a railroad owned holding lot. Ford doesnt own the BNSF/UP railroad lines or holding lots. The F-150's sitting around Detroit were there since they were built in Detroit.
I had a similar time waiting for mine to finally get delivered. After getting nowhere with my dealership/salesman, I decided to call Ford directly, and they were very helpful and explained what was happening and why and to just wait a little longer. I suggest doing that. Look forward to seeing your Mav on here once you get it!Hi Everyone! That won't happen. The OP only has a order to purchase.I am not surprised. These big companies have processes and procedures to do things. Going outside those lanes is incomprehensible to them and more hassle than it’s worth. Not to mention there may be organized labor or other contractually obligated areas that itemize going outside the lanes is prohibited. I feel for you. Common sense suggests that simply going over and picking it up yourself is an option.
Unknown. Most likely not a quantity, but rather a "number of days or weeks of production". Could be that they hold a rolling 2 weeks of production, or a month at a time. Or they don't hold any at all. This is all based one one quote from Jim Farley I believe. I don't think it's been detailed in writing. We get to be the guinea pig via seeing when ours get marked as shipped. I plan to check in with Ford Chat once per week if mine doesn't ship within a few days of production. Just to see what they have to say.I don't mean to take this off topic, but how many will they hold? My vin is 2683 and scheduled to be built on 11/11. I'm afraid you will have to wait until it gets to your dealer. It will show up there sooner or later. Talk to your salesperson, and be nice! remember the truck is theirs, until you buy it. Remember most of us waited over a year to get ours, your only in it 4 months so far!Hi Everyone! I bought 2 Broncos and 2 Mavericks in 2022.sadly this isn't all that unusual.
Small dealer/ rural location? transporters like to have a full load
lots of differences. mine sat longer south of the border and less than a week el norte.I bought 2 Broncos and 2 Mavericks in 2022.
Not a single one of them came to me faster than 3 weeks after getting the 'shipped' notification from Ford. Both Mavericks sat in Kansas City (in the caverns parking facility) for over 3 weeks.
OP's expectations are/were not reasonable. There are many, many threads talking about actual shipping time. Perhaps too many. Or perhaps the OP didn't bother reading those and doing some research before posting about his 'hostage'? Hmm.
