Hi Everyone! I had hoped to introduce myself in my first post as a happy first time Ford customer with pics of my new 2024 HPR Maverick Hybrid. Unfortunately it’s not to be!
I ordered my Lariat July 3,, built Sept 4, Shipped Sept 9. It’s been sitting in a New Boston MI Ford holding area (90 miles from my dealer) for over 3 weeks! They’ve told the dealer 3 weeks in a row that it will ship the following week! Ford won’t let the dealer drive down and get it. It’s been assigned for the past 3 weeks to an auto hauler who won’t return my dealer’s phone calls.
Please let me know if this is just standard Ford operating procedure and I need to get used to it or if my situation is a fluke.
Thank you for letting me vent a bit!
PS - If anyone has any suggestions for me to get my truck, please let me know. I’ve purchased numerous accessories for it that I learned about here.

Ford Sacrifices Short-Term Profits to Fix Its Costly Recall Problem (Bloomberg)

Published June 20, 2024
Ford Motor Co. CEO Jim Farley is so fed up with being the most recalled automaker in America that he’s willing to lose money to fix what’s ballooned into a $4.8 billion a year problem.
. For the foreseeable future, Farley says, the company will hold newly redesigned models for up to six weeks to perform extra quality checks that go beyond the extensive tests Ford undertakes in its factories.
. Over time, the automaker hopes to reduce warranty reserves that have more than doubled in five years. In the short term, however, it means Ford will take a revenue hit by not immediately shipping models to dealers.
. Earlier this year, Farley pioneered this “build-and-hold” approach with the newly redesigned F-150 pickup — Ford’s best-selling vehicle. More than 60,0000 fully built F-150s sat in parking lots around Detroit for weeks so engineers could check them for quality problems.
. Now, Farley is holding another marquee model, a redesigned version of the Explorer sport-utility vehicle, for extra tests. He plans a similar approach later this year with updated editions of the Bronco Sport compact SUV and hot-selling Maverick small pickup.

I know nobody likes to hear this.
Truth be told.
Legally, no vehicle is yours until, all monies have been paid and the title is in your name.

Mine took 5 weeks to arrive once it was built. Doesn't seem too unusual, at this point. I'd give it another week before calling the dogs out. 😬

As someone who waited more than 1,350 days for a version of the maverick I didn’t really want - suck it up bro.

I hope your 2024 arrives before my 2025 does 😂

Thanks everyone for your replies!
Based on the possibility it’s being held for quality checks, me not living in Detroit or other larger MI city and haulers wanting to have full loads, others with longer waits, I guess I’m lucky that its only 100 miles from my house 😂.
My sales manager talked to the manager at this large holding lot and the guy actually told him “I’m looking at his truck now”! At least I know it’s really there 😁

Not sure if Ford monitors MTC, but if you do, can you help a new Ford customer?

Thanks again everyone! I look forward to being part of the MTC!

WOW! 1350 days! That’s a long time to wait. I hope your 2025 takes a whole lot less time for you!!

Ford does monitor this site, they are a member. You can direct message them by clicking on the envelope in the banner at the top of the page halfway down the page there is a black square "Send direct message" in the Recipients: put Ford Motor Company

Interesting situation in that both Ford and the dealer have incentive to get the vehicle delivered to you. The wild card is the hauler, but then they also have an incentive. While the one post that details Ford holding vehicles to address issues may have relevance, I doubt that's the case as there are no facilities to address vehicle problems at staging areas. I think the most likely cause of the delay is transport company. I know trucking companies are struggling for drivers.

What was the version of the Maverick you had to wait so long for?
I ordered an XL Hybrid in September 2021 and was told the following year it wasn’t happening so I switched to a Tremor and it came in 2023
