God bless and stay safeSad to say we’ve had to run from Milton. But man, there's something comforting in knowing that a fueled-up Maverick hybrid will hold a lot of stuff take you a good 500+ miles in low speed stop and go traffic, and a five gallon jug of gas will give you another 200 miles of comfort. We're safe and sound on the east coast of Florida and hoping for the best.
For everyone else in this situation, best wishes and stay safe.
Here's to hoping you went far enough. God bless.Sad to say we’ve had to run from Milton. Can you imaging the mess at charging stations for Teslas and other EVs trying to evacuate? The stop and go traffic would have eaten their batteries up in no time in stop and go as they don't recharge through braking. They'd be stacked up like dominos waiting for the limited charging pods. The Maverick would just keep charging and charging every time the brakes were applied.Better than an EV
Be careful what you wish for. Since I have been in Hawaii the worst one we had slowed and stalled. It weakened into a tropical storm bug sat for two days on us. Here we have so much high ground the surge isn't an issue but the water flowing down the mountain caused a lot of damage.
Hope the windspeed falls but also hope it speeds past you.
Be safe everyone.
[/QUOjalá.
Sorry my messages wasn't clear, when I said slow, I meant to is to low the power of it, I know what slow moving hurricane can do, here it destroyed EVERYTHING and is been close to 7 years and you still can see in few places or the abandoned homes, the capacity of a natural disaster is not a game. My bad.
Well I guess I will see how well my Hybrid does sitting in the parking lot of our EOC/Communications center here in Volusia as I am mandated/activated at work for the duration. Hope it doesn't float away.Sad to say we’ve had to run from Milton. on the other hand yesterdays news said 1,500 gas stations were out of gas.Can you imaging the mess at charging stations for Teslas and other EVs trying to evacuate? I do not know what I did wrong, I went only 400 miles using 11 gallons as I trekked slowly through Florida on my escape. I thought I could get something like that so called 500 - 700 mile range. Still, not bad!More like 700 miles on a full tank of gas but yes, great vehicle specifically great at slow n go and stop n go driving.
When it says zero miles to "empty" you can usually go 100 miles more. (Based on 40 MPG)I do not know what I did wrong, I went only 400 miles using 11 gallons as I trekked slowly through Florida on my escape. I thought I could get something like that so called 500 - 700 mile range. Still, not bad!
There's been a homeowners' insurance crisis in Florida for years. They already created an "insurer of last resort" that is required to take on customers. They worked out some sort of compromise (let insurers jack up rates) last year that has been bringing more of them into the state this year. These two hurricanes will be a huge hit, but this has happened many times before since 2004.Hope your safe , gas stations out of power soon too!
Cant pump gas without electricity !
Start shopping for new insurance and/or new place to live as the insurance companies will start pulling out of Florida now and wont be able to insure anything with potential flooding !If its not profitfull they will leave !
They did it with wildfire areas on the west coast .
Okay, progress report. How's it going down there?Sad to say we’ve had to run from Milton.
