I just took my Maverick out for the first time in some pretty heavy rain. I have the ford factory tri fold Tonneau Cover. Is it supposed to be water tight? Mine leaked in several spots. Just wanted to see if that is normal or expected. I wondering if I should bother the dealer to try and fix it or not.

There are no covers on the market.....hard. soft, tri-fold, any style, that will make a waterproof seal. Unless you go bananas with a roll of weather stripping and silicone caulk and then never remove or adjust the cover ever again. You will notice that every tonneau cover will say something like "water resistant", not waterproof or watertight.

I have had my Ford trifold since Feb 9, 2023. Have noticed a little wetness in bed a few times, but not as much as I was expecting. The main weakness is the vertical edges of tailgate when heavy rain is blowing from the rear. I have not bothered but some have installed the weatherstrip for the tailgate. In my case to hold down the dust that blows into bed area. You might check to see if the hold down knobs that clamp the trifold to the truck bed at the cab end are tight enough to squeeze the weatherstrip at the can end. When I removed mine I had to use a bung wrench to loosen mine and reinstall but I'm 81 and grip is not real strong any more. I also had to replace the springs in the tailgate handles with weaker ones so I could open and close trifold. I may replace my trifold with a roll-up from truck2go for less than $1k

I have the hard tri fold and when I went through a car wash or it really poured there were a couple spots that had a few drops on it but I was surprised at how little.

I'm sure the Cyber Truck's tonneau cover doesn't leak. Afterall, Elon wouldn't sell you anything that didn't work properly - would he?

You’ll also need to clean out the funnel that the drain tubes attach too. They get clogged and will let more moisture in the bed

I agree there's no such thing as a waterproof tonneau cover. Regardless of make you're going to have to add weather stripping to the tailgate and other areas to make it watertight.

My experience with the Ford Tri-fold is it weeps at the car wash and in hard rain. I have tried adjusting it and tightening it but there is still some leaks along the edges and tailgate.

Also, just behind the cab there is a seam on both sides that leaks that I have been meaning to try and seal...

My Ford Cover keeps the bed mostly dry. A trip through the car wash barely leaves water in the bed. If the drain holes are clogged by saw dust or dirt I might get some pooling but nothing significant. Overall, I’m very pleased with the purchase. I do keep items I want to keep dry in bins to protect in case there are any leaks.

The tailgate isn't sealed. I haven't had significant leaks in the rain but car washes that spray directly at the tailgate can leak a little more.

As hot as my bed gets with the cover on it, it pretty much dries out any water that gets inside within a few hours.
