I’ve searched the forums, but haven’t found clear info on how to completely remove this blasted cover. When I untwist the black knobs, they come all the way off, but don’t loosen the bolt clamped onto the rail. It’s infuriating! I saw instructions to “use more force” on another site, but I’m leery of that. I don’t want to break the plastic clamps. Has anyone successfully removed their soft tonneau without losing their mind? :whew: I’m almost ready to remove the actual rail.

As always, thanks in advance for any insights!

Post from another member. I have the factory oem cover also and have removed it several times with no issues or tricks. Make sure the back clamps are installed into the metal clip as shown. The pdf in the post has the install instruction if needed.

The first time I had to remove it it was so overtightened that I had to remove the nuts entirely and pry the clamps off of the bracket. Now I can just loosen it and it'll come off, but the first time is painful.

I suggest removing the nuts, and then lifting by the frame of the cover. The bolts will probably come out of the clamps entirely and then the clamps will fall into the bed. Collect them and re-assemble everything, and when you put it back together, don't tighten it so frigging much...not sure what's up with the factory or the dealers cranking them down so hard.....
