No covers are watertight, Had them all over the years they all leak in car wash or heavy rain. There are a few videos on the tube to help with sealing the covers up one by Real truck worker on a maverick that's good, but none are airtight sorry. I keep stuff in plastic tubs just in case.I just took my Maverick out for the first time in some pretty heavy rain. I have the ford factory tri fold Tonneau Cover. Is it supposed to be water tight? Mine leaked in several spots. Just wanted to see if that is normal or expected. I wondering if I should bother the dealer to try and fix it or not.
Yea we need that IP64 rated tonneau coverThere are no covers on the market.....hard. soft, tri-fold, any style, that will make a waterproof seal. Unless you go bananas with a roll of weather stripping and silicone caulk and then never remove or adjust the cover ever again. You will notice that every tonneau cover will say something like "water resistant", not waterproof or watertight.
I agree been driving for over 55 years always had a truck and my friends also drive pickups, they all leak some more than others doesn't matter how much you spend its going to leak, if your careful installing and seal up the trim on the vehicle around the bed not the cover it will only leak at the tailgate and run down the backside of the gate not a biggie. If you don't use car washes you will say mine don't leak, a good car wash with high pressure it will leak. Use plastic tubs just in case if you have tools or stuff that cant get wet they don't leak in the middle of the bed the water runs down the sides and front and backAll covers will leak! My cheap cover leaks just as good as an expensive cover!
