Pretty crappy that a manufacturer would sell an item for a specific vehicle that is faulty .

Absolutely....or sell a product that required you to destroy your lower active shutter system to seriously risk warranty denials. That's why I have been so supportive of Demco as the only real baseplate choice.

Thought this was a good place to post a flat tow report. 2023 Mav Lariat. Just got back from a 4200 mile trip. NO issues ever with going into or out of Neutral tow. In fact the only time that was an issue was all my fault as the brake pedal had not fully returned and held brake lights on....so Mav was in "run" mode not "accessory". That problem is fixed...
I am somewhere well over 10,000 miles flat towing the Mav.
On the return trip to Houston from West Glacier, Montana I had planned to not even unhook. 2000 miles and 5 days. On the morning of the 4th day....an engine service light came on. Not flashing, so not a reason to not drive or tow. That evening we unhooked and I drove it a bit. Light stayed on, but all worked as it should. Next day at first "exercise" stop the light went off. I am thinking the constant starting for just a few minutes might have triggered a fault code due to engine not coming to temp, misfire, or whatever. Light is still off so all is good. Anyone else have this happen? I am thinking I will be sure to unhook at least every third day for a drive.....

I am getting ready for my 3rd long trip towing the Maverick this week. I haven't gone 4 days without unhooking, but I always carry a little Panlong Code reader to identify and clear CELs. (I caused a few during my Demco install...turning the ignition on with the PED unplugged; with the front light and temperature sensor unplugged.)

Cheap worry removal. https://www.amazon.com/Panlong-Bluetooth-Diagnostic-Scanner-Android/dp/B00PJPHEBO/?th=1 If you have an apple product, you can find the ios and android version for 2 times the cost.

Hello Everyone,

I am the proud new owner of a 2024 Maverick Hybrid (Cactus Grey). We needed something to be able to flat tow behind our RV (2021 Newmar Baystar Sport). I’ve poured through the forums looks at other people’s experiences and recommendations. Here is what I’ve decided upon, and wanted to get your thoughts on it!

Demco Baseplate
BASEPLATE 9519360
https://cdn.demco-products.com/documents/Manuals/TP29360.pdf

Demco Wiring Kit
9523010 - KIT TAILLIGHTWIRING DIODE

Tow Bar + Braking System (w/ Demco Clevis)
READY BRUTE ELITE II RV TOW BAR WITH INTEGRATED SUPPLEMENTAL BRAKE
https://nsarvproducts.com/products/rv-tow-bar-ready-brute-elite-ii?variant=40449788149946

I will be using the surge brake on the tow bar versus installing a braking system within the Maverick.

Any thoughts or opinions on this? Thanks!
I used Roadmaster direct connect baseplate and towbar and Demco Stay and Play breaking system with Demco wiring.

Love It 👍👊🏻

I keep a good code reader in the RV. Didn't bother to check the code. I was actually thinking/hoping it would clear itself after a few miles/restarts. And it did. Just thought it interesting that it happened and I think the morning starts, exercise starts, end of day starts screwed with the computer and what it thinks is happening. Engine never gets to temp for instance. I will make it a plan to unhook by the third day next long trip.....

That makes sense to me. My trips are generally 3 days to wherever I go...CA, WA or IN, so I haven't had that happen yet.
Speaking of IN, that was a trip to SDG, Inc in Elkhart for a new Dreiha Atmos 4.4 air conditioner so we could dump the noisy, power-hungry Dometic. The Atmos is a great upgrade and now I can run it on Lithium batteries, using about 50A per hour from the battery bank. Game changer for my RV (LTV Wonder).

My son is thinking of buying a Maverick and wants to be able to tow it. He's thinking about using a car dolly that the front wheels rest on. Good idea? Bad idea?

I've just converted from dolly to flat tow. There are a few threads on this site about it. The short answer is dolly is the quickest least intrusive way, no mods to toad. For brakes you can do surge (nothing needed from motorhome but power) or full contol from a brake controller in the motorhome. The cons, just like flat tow you have steps to follow, and even then you will likely get a bunch of scary warnings that go away harmlessly after a short drive. The biggest pia to me was always needing to check the straps and wrestle the dolly around either at home or camp ground. Plus the dolly adds another 500 ish pounds to tow. It's a good place to start, and you can use any fwd vehicle you want.

Just towed our 2023 Maverick uneventfully for another 450 mile leg of a trip today. I would never consider a dolly. In the way and unnecessary for a Hybrid Maverick.

I already own a NSA ready brute II, that I used for the jeep gladiator that I just sold and replaced with a XL hybrid 2024, I have ordered the Demco base plate, I have seen the photos of the modified NSA/shock dampener, that realShelby installed, i’m trying to get more information about the shock size may be a part number? As for lighting,, magnetic LED wireless towing light kit.

On these hybrids are you still recommending a auxiliary power source from the RV to the Ford maverick just to charge the Ford maverick battery?
