HI Brad:The cheap answer is a $15 bluetooth voltage monitor. Then you know your truck's battery voltage as you tow it and if the charge wire stops working for any reason, you 'll know it.
Just removed my 3rd failed RVi battery charger (this one melted where the wires go in and out of it - piece of junk in my experience with 3 separate units) and installed a direct line with an in-line diode breaker and fuse. Do you have a link on the voltage monitor you used. I now have a 44 DP and hopefully it will have enough bluetooth output to capture at driver's position some 50+ feet away.
