Wasn't there a 351 Cleveland also?
There was, but it was out of production by the '80s. It debuted for the 1970 model year. It was entirely different from the Windsors. It was also offered as a 400, but that was never a performance engine. (The Mustang Boss 302 used Cleveland heads on a Windsor block. The Boss 351 was a Cleveland.)

Thanks for sharing. Doubt many people would even think it's a police vehicle. I bet you had did a double take and realized you were not seeing things.

Back around 1969, summer i think, me and a couple high school friends decided we needed an adventure so one of our friends gave us a ride from our area Palos Verdes, to near Torrey Pines (near San Diego). We found a slightly wooded spot and set up a campsite where we could sleep while we roamed around over to the beach and golf course for fun. Someone reported us and we were arrested (gently) and had to call one of our parents (my mom) to come pick us up. From our campsite we rode in the back seat of a police cruiser, a Ford I think. The officer was very nice and we chatted. We asked how quick his police car. He said 0-60 in 7 seconds and gave us a little demonstration. That was so impressive. That's about the acceleration of my hybrid if I step on it (which I rarely do).

but as my friend used to say, "ain't nobody gonna outrun the Motorola" - meaning the radio, of course.
I remember the "police" friend of a relative, always said....

I'd rather see it very plainly identifiable from all angles.

Make em all hot pink and give them webbed feet

How about an Interceptor package for the Super Duty with the 7.3L Megazilla engine (612 HP) and a supercharger. Should be good for 750+ HP.

"Nothing.. Out Runs a Motorola"

Year 2024.
1. Motorola "old school"
2. Dash cams
3. Smart phones
4. Security cameras at traffic intersections
5. Security cameras on local businesses
6. Helicopters and drones
7. Factory GPS built into cars

You can catch the fastest car with a moped these days.

Edit. I forgot this.
8. Newer car factory control modules to disable over the air with a mouse click from a desk jockey.
Future kids will never understand a car chase.

Did you follow the link?

$30k

Can buy them in Mexico now.
Not yet in USA.

If this is a pull out tray in the Chevy, I think that is awesome.

In the mid-late 70's I had a friend who bought surplus Highway Patrol vehicles drove them a while then resold them. He had a '72 or '73 Mercury once with 429 with 4 barrel from 25 MPH up it was as quick as any production car.

No. And the power of Police Interceptors is a myth. Ford adapts retail vehicles for police work. They strip them of options, add some things for durability (such as cooling), and retune things like shift points, but they don't actually add power.
Not anymore that is. In the 80s Crown Vics would be had with the same 4bbl 351w HO that you could get in the 84-86 F150s. At the time it made it on par with the mustang. In the 90s the CVs had different tuning and more efficient intake manifolds. Standard dual exhaust. Didnt really bump the peak hp but broadened the curve. In the 70s departments could spec whatever they wanted. Usually truck motors which did not have as much emissions equipment and better carbs and cams. Nowadays some of the Explorers dont even get the turbo motor the get the old NA v6s. Hardly performance models. Changes are coming. Ford has been talking about a EV cop spec car. We will see if that happens. It will have good acceleration. I still think the Canoo vans would be the ideal police EV.

The '90s Police Interceptors did not have different intakes. They had standard dual exhaust, but dual exhaust was available on retail Crown Vics. The Police Interceptor horsepower rating was identical to a retail Crown Vic with dual exhaust in the '90s.
