I wish I knew more about it, but no doubt someone from the club will add to the discovery.

In order to open the hood (engine bay) driver's door must be opened and pull the Hood Release lever 2x.

Police dark mode for cruisers usually switches off all interior and exterior lighting in park but keeps the vehicle and accessory power running. Shifting into drive reactivates the lights. I imagine that should essentially be what that setting does.

For ambulances, they have security switches that allow the vehicle to run without the key in the ignition, but will kill the engine if someone without a key tries to take the vehicle (presses the brake or tries to change gears). This allows EMTs to leave the vehicle running so radio repeaters, medical equipment, and HVAC continue working and charging until they return to the vehicle with a patient. You don't want to put a heat-stroke patient into a 120 degree ambulance when you get back from a trailhead for example, but you also don't want somebody driving off with it either. I imagine that the ambulance mode is something like that.

These are both present because Ford vehicles are popular platforms for both types of vehicle. Though it was the E-series, F-series, and Transits for ambulances and Explorers for police. I doubt many Mavericks are seeing use as ambulances, but I could see them as police vehicle or an ambulance support vehicle (chase car with medical equipment).
Interesting, dare I ask how do you engage / activate these modes?

They are typically tied into a physical switch or button you press. The switch with the picture of a crossed out key (top of pic, third key in the row with the orange switch) is the security switch. The vehicle is running but the key is laying right there. Press the switch up and remove the key to activate secure idle. Don't press it if you want the vehicle off when you remove the key.

Dude literally copied an existing thread 💀
I admitted as much… and so what? We’ve had many new members since 2022 when that first came out and if you bothered to noticed, several people have added to the discussion with updated good and bad points. Unlike yourself who seemingly finds comfort in only posting empty criticisms.

One type of water bottle that fits into the door is the Mainstays 22 oz Blue and Silver Plastic Water Bottle with Screw Cap from Walmart. Appropriate to the Maverick experience, they're only about $1.00 each.

Here's one you won't like, occasionally my doors lock when getting out of vehicle when it's running, locked my dog in truck once always leave a window open now.
Don't forget your key code and don't leave phone in vehicle like I did.
I scanned my key code card into Notes on my iPhone. I haven't forgotten it, yet. Of course if you lock your phone into your Maverick and forget the code it's not going to be much help.

I for one needed the reminder, there are a lot of posts on this site, and I forget stuff.... so thanks for that.

Going through some old notes and saw this. Most likely from an old thread, but I thought it worth repeating for any new members.

10 Secrets of the Maverick
  1. You are not to tow anything until you drive the truck 1000 miles.
  2. The manual release for the fuel door is over the driver's side rear wheel
  3. For best performance, Ford recommends using a high-octane fuel with an octane level of 91 or higher.
  4. The oil in your truck coming from the factory is "slime" green.
  5. Your truck has a secret setting for "Police Dark Mode".
  6. Your truck has a secret setting for "Ambulance Mode".
  7. If your infotainment screen freezes, hold down the volume and skip forward button at the same time for 5 seconds and it will reset the screen.
  8. The rear head rests block about 40% of your rear vision via the rear-view mirror. Remove them for a much better rear view.
  9. There is no light in the glove compartment, but the passenger side overhead light will illuminate the interior of the glove box just fine.
  10. The mirror visors have lights.
#8 - Shouldn't be an issue if you have a canopy and regularly carry a St. Bernard in the back. You're not gong to be relying on the interior rear view mirror. ☺

Looking at the list of the 10 Maverick secrets, I looked under the driver's side rear-view tire and found this green tab. Is this the manual gas lid release? It does not feel like it is hooked to anything.

I have a 2024 Hybrid and there is a button on the dashboard to open the gag lid.

Dad:

Item No. 2: I found this when I looked under the driver's side wheel well. It is not connected to anything. Could it be the manual release for the fuel door?

I ave a 2024 Hybrid and the fuel door release is a button on the dashboard you push.
