Anyone remember the secret to the wipers? Imma need new blades soon. My hood finish is scratched because of the wiper arms.

Police dark mode for cruisers usually switches off all interior and exterior lighting in park but keeps the vehicle and accessory power running. Shifting into drive reactivates the lights. I imagine that should essentially be what that setting does.

For ambulances, they have security switches that allow the vehicle to run without the key in the ignition, but will kill the engine if someone without a key tries to take the vehicle (presses the brake or tries to change gears). This allows EMTs to leave the vehicle running so radio repeaters, medical equipment, and HVAC continue working and charging until they return to the vehicle with a patient. You don't want to put a heat-stroke patient into a 120 degree ambulance when you get back from a trailhead for example, but you also don't want somebody driving off with it either. I imagine that the ambulance mode is something like that.

These are both present because Ford vehicles are popular platforms for both types of vehicle. Though it was the E-series, F-series, and Transits for ambulances and Explorers for police. I doubt many Mavericks are seeing use as ambulances, but I could see them as police vehicle or an ambulance support vehicle (chase car with medical equipment).

I wonder if that's because they're already thinking police and rescue versions of the truck or if it was just already built in to the software and they just didn't bother removing it.

I added onto my prior post. A huge number of ambulances are based on the E and F series vans and truck bodies, and newer ones are based on the Transits. The software is likely universal.

Going through some old notes and saw this. Most likely from an old thread, but I thought it worth repeating for any new members.

10 Secrets of the Maverick
  1. You are not to tow anything until you drive the truck 1000 miles.
  2. The manual release for the fuel door is over the driver's side rear wheel
  3. For best performance, Ford recommends using a high-octane fuel with an octane level of 91 or higher.
  4. The oil in your truck coming from the factory is "slime" green.
  5. Your truck has a secret setting for "Police Dark Mode".
  6. Your truck has a secret setting for "Ambulance Mode".
  7. If your infotainment screen freezes, hold down the volume and skip forward button at the same time for 5 seconds and it will reset the screen.
  8. The rear head rests block about 40% of your rear vision via the rear-view mirror. Remove them for a much better rear view.
  9. There is no light in the glove compartment, but the passenger side overhead light will illuminate the interior of the glove box just fine.
  10. The mirror visors have lights.
Here's one you won't like, occasionally my doors lock when getting out of vehicle when it's running, locked my dog in truck once always leave a window open now.
Don't forget your key code and don't leave phone in vehicle like I did.

While in "R" if you stop and open the driver's door, the vehicle will shift into "Park".
Interesting...I tried this on my 22 EB lariat and it did not work...Thoughts?

I don't close the door all the way when getting out while it's running. The first time I did that, the truck's horn beeped twice, so ever after I closed the door but didn't let it latch. I thought I was just avoiding the horn, but you've discovered a more serious problem.

^ Some of these only apply to some trims, or Hybrids
2. Hybrids only, EB don't have locking fuel door
8. Depends on your height and how you set the mirror
10. Must only be Lariats, I see no way to get lights to turn on in those on my XLT
-----
Additional
11. The 400w factory inverter is not pure sine-wave, some electrics won't like it.
12. The wires in the plastic bag under the backseat or in the glove box is for the 12v power at the back of the bed on either side.
Glad to see my initial post is generating additional 'secrets'.

Here's one.
If you put the truck in park on a hill, it will automatically set the e-brake for you!

The hill must be fairly steep.
Correct. I hate the small lurch you get after putting it in Park and turning it off, so I now have muscle memory in turning on the brake manually.

Excellent Dad. This needs to be made a sticky and maybe an excel spreadsheet like Forscan. My mind is churning and it honestly hurts my head.

14. Hybrid Jump Points
15. The slot for receipt in the center console
16. Driver's side door lock that gets magically hit when exiting the car
17. Fuse 11 (Telemetrics) can be removed, and the truck still functions fine, just can't call home
Love your contributions!
