One thing that is of interest... I have a whole cloth XLT Tremor interior packaged away if we find the BAP ActiveX intolerable in our Desert Climate..... Got it cheap from someone who immediately had a shop remove it and reapholstred everything in black leather.... It's going to be a bit of red herring.... as Tremor is now basically an offroad capable Lariat w/ BAP and w/out 4K available.

Yes, but peoples expectations have changed since then and we now have some roads with 85 mph speed limits. 37+ years ago we had a national 55 mph speed limit.

We also have a lot more lawyers hungry for a lawsuit.
yes, absolutely.

I do not doubt that a Maverick hybrid awd towing 4k could eventually get through the Eisenhower tunnel from Denver to Breckenridge. physically, I bet it could. I certainly wouldn't have any interest in going 30 mph up those steep grades or stopping halfway to avoid overheating.

those were things in the 70s, 80s and before, but today we have people that expect to be able to tow at or near the speed of normal traffic.

Also more painted area for stone chips in the paint. What were they thinking?
So much this. I don't know what is to blame, EPA forced paint changes or whatever, but I have picked up so many effing rock chips, this paint does not instill confidence. A weekly hand wash and keeping up with wax/ceramic should be enough, it is disgusting to feel obligated to get PPF if you want to keep your paint chip free. I am at under 8k miles and mostly do city driving, and have already used a paint pen on 4-5 chips, and currently have a few to fix. This include stupid spots like the middle of my doors, not just limited to my front end / hood.

Well, back in the 60s, we had speed limits like 70 - it was in the 70s that the "double nickel" came to be, with a hard-sell by the government to push it on the states.

I remember reading Car and Driver magazine in the late 70s - they had some strong editorial commentary against the 55 mph limit. They had articles advising the best techniques for using a radar detector, and compared several models. "Vote with your foot" was their battle cry.

Of course, that was back in the days when we had great movies like "Bullett" and "Smokey and the Bandit" teaching us how to drive a bit on the wild side too. :)

Car and Driver also did some interesting experiments, on closed courses, with the effects of alcohol on driving, and (believe it or not) the effect that a certain smokable herb had on driving. Not sure how they got away with that, but it was a long time ago.

Nobody is going to be happy about that . Thought that would be changed for sure .
We talked to the engineer and they didn't even think about it being a problem. So hopefully we opened their eyes to a change for 2026.

Just watched @fordvideoguy Lariat video. Job 1 Lariats won't include the towing back up assist features.

Would this mean the dial won't be there, leaving a blank? Wonder if one could retrofit the climate control from previous models.
Unsure, probably a smooth surface there.

I have read all the posts and maybe I did not see, but anyone know if the Hybrid 4k tow, AWD is flat towable behind a motorhome?

Obvious problem retrofitting would be no longer having a button for hazards. Also no passenger airbag indicator which might make the airbag system angry.

I really hope that by the time I wear my '23 out manufacturers have gotten over this trend of moving climate and stereo controls to the touch screen. One of the things I loved about the Maverick in the first place was actual buttons for the important controls
I think that the manufacturers are catering to the younger buyers that grew up on touchscreens for everything.

Personally, I grew up with knobs for the radio, sliders for the HVAC, and keys for the ignition and I prefer to keep it that way. Then again, I am old, grumpy and unwilling to learn anything new. My father once said that when he hit a certain age he became invisible to everyone, including the marketing people. I am beginning to understand what he meant.

I installed a subwoofer under the bench so I've had a pretty good look at things. I also rarely get under my bench, so I personally don't see much need for a split bench. I do get it that if you have a person or cargo only on part of it, that it could be useful in some situations to have a split bench so you can get into the storage tub where that person or cargo isn't resting.

It looks to me like the current bench carries weight mainly on 4 points of contact, besides the rear hinge at the back. These 4 points are reinforced. I could see a 50/50 split bench being relatively easy to implement, but if you wanted 60/40 and let's say that was passenger-side rear seat being the small fraction so you can access all the non-battery areas on a hybrid, it would require redoing the reinforcement of the bench itself and the where it rests.

I wouldn't mind it, but I personally would not use it any more than I use my current bench storage. And I have almost never heard of anyone complain about the one-piece bench seat.

No FX/4 package on Hybrid AWD is a bummer. That FX/4 package is a steal for the 800 dollar price tag. Not to have it in a AWD Maverick is an easy pass for me, I'm afraid.

Digital pushbuttons only for HVAC controls is a hard pass for me.

Not sure why fixed position projector headlamps are limited to Lariat and Tremor. Not like they are something new or cutting edge, even anything special. Been around for over 25 years now in various cars. Maybe even longer, I dunno.

Not a fan of the blue accents in the XLT but understand why they did it.

Love the idea of a larger screen, SYNC4 and most likely brighter. The larger productivity screen is a very nice upgrade as well. Again hate the idea of integrated digital pushbuttons. They are a bad idea all the way around and contribute to distracted driving. Something, at my age I cannot and should not be doing at any level.

Will I buy a '25? Not unless something happens to my 23 FX/4 then what choice will I have? Gotta have a Mav, right? :ROFLMAO:(y)

they cost more and as such are integrated only to the models that have the LED DRLs.

why projectors, hopefully it reduces dispersion. the current lights are bright but have a lot of dispersion and they suck in the rain.
