I really hope that by the time I wear my '23 out manufacturers have gotten over this trend of moving climate and stereo controls to the touch screen.
Not gonna happen. Much easier and cheaper to do software than hardware and also much bigger profits in selling a new screen and labor to replace it than one knob... since if one function in the whole system fails, you have to replace the whole unit!

The loss of the 'analog' gauges, engine power (12hp less on the ecoboost...) is not great from my view. I'm also a fan of the manual fan and radio controls on current generation but would like a bigger screen since the little cubby next to the current one is pretty useless.

In all honesty the dash gauges isn't really useful. The speedometer is redundant since the digital can't be removed, and easier to read, and a tachometer is utterly useless with an automatic transmission, especially on the Maverick since we can't manually shift it.

Good thing with higher prices is that our 'old' ones depreciate less ;-)

I am guessing there will be an upcharge for the Van Halen meets Hulk smash Eruption Green especially as a 1 year only model.
According to the build guide it's a base color. Only Azure Gray and Ruby Red are extra.

That's probably the biggest downgrade in my mind. But unfortunately, I don't see that trend reversing. It's a cost-cutting measure most of the time.
It seems like there's been quite a bit of customer backlash over it in recent years, so I'm cautiously optimistic. It's a huge accessibility issue as well, my wife is blind so moving all this stuff to the touch screen makes it completely unusable for her as a passenger

Don't forget 25+ years ago that trucks with wheezy 6-cylinders and 8-cylinders barely broke 200 hp and still were rated for 3-tons+ towing.
Yes, but peoples expectations have changed since then and we now have some roads with 85 mph speed limits. 37+ years ago we had a national 55 mph speed limit.

We also have a lot more lawyers hungry for a lawsuit.

The thing is, the screen is just a screen. The computer itself does the work with all the modules and control switches in the dash. Just like with most climate control systems, it's going to be the interface that breaks, not the back end mechanics opening and closing baffles, etc.

And these screens are getting cheaper all the time. A cheap tablet goes for under $100 and that includes software, storage, etc. This is literally just a touch screen. Only hope is if Ford has some type of pin connector to it and not hardwired with a wiring harness snaking down through the dash. For manufacturing ease I'm guessing the harness goes to a pin connect on the back of the screen. Will be plug and play once you get the dash coverings removed.

Just watched @fordvideoguy Lariat video. Job 1 Lariats won't include the towing back up assist features.

Would this mean the dial won't be there, leaving a blank? Wonder if one could retrofit the climate control from previous models.

The AWD 4k towing hybrid is definitely making me want to trade in my 22 Lariat hybrid for that. 2k has been enough most of the time but I've been thinking of buying a small recreational trailer and the lightest I can find are just barely under 3k lbs dry weight. AWD would be worth the 1-2mpg drop.

Only problem is that Lariat price tag is mighty steep. I paid $30k all in for my Lariat in January 22. If I trade in, I'd probably go XLT and see about any option for pleather seats or just go with covers.

Odds are I'm keeping this truck until it goes to a junk yard and by then hopefully the 2034s will be out.

Nope it is not a unibody, and no I did not fail anything, I was looking for an example of a truck that offered a manual tranny.
So, a useful apples to oranges comparison.

My Mav shifts very well with my tunes (5Star). My buddy was amazed at how hard it shifted under full throttle, compared to his stock Mav. If you are on the verge of ordering a tune, I'd say go for it! not only will it shift better, but it'll feel like a whole new truck!
it would be my third, the motorhome trans tune transformed the beast, I'm a fan.

I just checked out the motor trend article, and they state that the reason for the drop in HP to 238, is only to satisfy some California garbage, and that the output is actually the same as it has been. So that is good news!

Does the AWD hybrid still have the ECVT?
If so how does that link up with the PTU, any worries about extra load on the ECVT?

Yes, If you want a truck with a Manual Tranny go get the Toyota. It is that simple, nothing more, nothing less.
