I'm wondering if there are any Forscan mods that allow me to have the throttle responsiveness of Sport Mode without the really dumb faux shifting that robs HP for effect.

Anyone heard of anything like that?

I like the virtual shifting and engine noises. I mean, how often do you use Sport Mode?

Have you tried tow mode?

One of the purposes behind sport mode is to keep the engine running in it's power band, which means keeping those RPMs up in the 3000-5000 range. It also assists in slowing down by allowing engine braking, which also is helped by the high RPM operation. Throttle response Is improved when its spinning a little quicker, and there's no delay, waiting for a downshift.

I use it in certain traffic types. Makes the truck more nimble by keeping the engine on and ready for instant response. Also, I get people like the virtual shifting, just don't need it technically going above and below its power band with the small pauses for the virtual gears.

Have you tried tow mode?
I'll see how that behaves. Thanks!

That is exactly why I love sport mode. Instant power by keeping the engine spinning and maintaining the RPM within the power band. What isn't needed are the small pauses to simulate gear shifts, and the variability outside of its optimal RPM in order to simulate revving. That's what I would love to get rid of.

I'll see what tow mode does. If it maintains the engine spinning and keeps it in the power band, that would work perfectly. Thanks!

I assume this is a hybrid comment, EB's have real gears.

I love Sport Mode, but use it sparingly because I'm plenty happy with the performance of the truck in Normal. I've been of the opinion the noises are generated virtually and not by any physical process on the transmission, although I'm happy to be corrected.
Nimble is an understatement in my opinion. Seems like that 191 hp gets bumped up to 291, but of course, that's due to how the engine and E trans work together. Having the electric motor makes the Maverick behave like a slot car . . . instant acceleration.

OP has a Hybrid, which doesn't shift, because it doesn't need to.
They are referring to the fake appearance of shifting, when a Hybrid is put in Sport mode.
AH - now I get it. Yeah, fake shifting seems kind of counter-productive.
Kind of like my F-150 piping in some nice exhaust rumble through the woofers when I got on the gas.

What gave it away, perhaps the part where it's a post in the Hybrid section of the forum? 😆

I have my doubts that Ford is putting that into a entry level budget vehicle. It's likely all done with the engine and transmission. By that I don't mean real shifting, just letting electric motor spin freely for a few milliseconds to make it feel like a shift perhaps? Tow haul mode gets the better response without the crappy fake shifting and is my preference, but I only use it when hauling. Normal is more than fast enough.

The observation skills presented here are truly exemplary.
🙄

The truck, via software is "fake shifting".
Just like those two descriptive words sound like.

Gas engine RPM goes up, then it sharply drops. Then engine RPM goes up, then it sharply drops.

Like, I dunno. "Shifting gears" from 1st to 2nd and so on.

Thanks for the reply. The answer is most likely buried in Ford's Vault of Mysterious and Unanswered Secrets.
