  1. Exploring without the grid in Hybrid Maverick + Roam Vagabond XL Roof Top Tent RTT

    I have the Leitner. It's 700lb capacity dynamic, 1400lb static, 350lb off-road. It's a beast.
  2. Exploring without the grid in Hybrid Maverick + Roam Vagabond XL Roof Top Tent RTT

I just bought the cold weather liner, but haven't used it yet. I'll share more once I do!
  3. Exploring without the grid in Hybrid Maverick + Roam Vagabond XL Roof Top Tent RTT

My normal mileage with just the rack and no tent is about 39mpg. When the tent is installed, that drops to 33mpg average. You really see mileage decrease above 45mph. I'm continuing to refine my system getting it on and off quickly. My goal is to get it under 20 minutes for install.
  4. Redneck Engineering to Mount Roam Vagabond XL Rooftop Tent

It's the Leitner ACS. I went with the fixed configuration. Static load of 1400lbs, dynamic 700, and off-road 350. Has been very versatile.
  5. 2025 AWD Hybrid + Oru Camper + Flatout Lift Kit

That camp setup looks amazing! I'm mildly jealous. Just waiting for my CVs to fail and get replaced on my '24 hybrid then I'll be doing a 2" lift as well to help my adventures! Thanks for sharing!
  6. Battery drain side effect - lumbar support stopped

Took my year old MY24 Lariat hybrid in today for three things: Battery Saver issues for the past few months Oil change Lumbar support not working for months Results: Oil change completed New battery and BMS reset (guess I'll see them next year for another) Can not duplicate - lumbar support...
  7. Redneck Engineering to Mount Roam Vagabond XL Rooftop Tent

So yeah! Appreciate everyone who thought I was crazy - so did I. 😂 It was a fun little project that I would never do the same again. It's one of those things that once everything was going, I was in too deep to do a lot of adjustments. Definitely should have rigged up the boards 90 deg. That...
  8. Redneck Engineering to Mount Roam Vagabond XL Rooftop Tent

Background: with the 200lb Vagabond XL, gas mileage drops from 39mpg to 31mpg, so late this winter I decided to try to come up with a way to remove and remount as needed. Removal was easy. Make a ramp, slide it down. Up? That was much more challenging. My garage is small and down an incline...
  9. Exploring without the grid in Hybrid Maverick + Roam Vagabond XL Roof Top Tent RTT

I have a small fairy that flies inches in front of my license plates so bright and quickly that it causes those whiteouts. Really, it can't be helped. I tried to get rid of her with a fly swatter, but she got me back by buzzing in my ear all night for weeks.
  10. Exploring without the grid in Hybrid Maverick + Roam Vagabond XL Roof Top Tent RTT

The views are just the best. I grew up in Ohio and lived several other places with the military. Within a couple years of moving to Washington, I knew this was home. Love living in a country (and state) with so many options!
  11. Exploring without the grid in Hybrid Maverick + Roam Vagabond XL Roof Top Tent RTT

New tires and recovery gear are both on my list of purchases before the fall rains. Trying to decide my next option for front recovery. If you have suggestions, I'm all for it! With the current setup, best I could do is a 10 degree incline on the Forest Service roads, and that required a head...
  12. Exploring without the grid in Hybrid Maverick + Roam Vagabond XL Roof Top Tent RTT

This weekend, I ventured into central Washington with one of my partners on our way to the Ellensburg Rodeo. We took our hybrid Maverick and Roam Vagabond XL roof top tent to enjoy the views along the way. First stop was a forest service road off of Rt. 2. Alas, the perfect spot was...
  13. Sport mode without the dumb faux shifting?

I use it in certain traffic types. Makes the truck more nimble by keeping the engine on and ready for instant response. Also, I get people like the virtual shifting, just don't need it technically going above and below its power band with the small pauses for the virtual gears. I'll see how...
  14. Sport mode without the dumb faux shifting?

I'm wondering if there are any Forscan mods that allow me to have the throttle responsiveness of Sport Mode without the really dumb faux shifting that robs HP for effect. Anyone heard of anything like that?
  15. Camper Shell Impact on MPG

Going about 65-70mph, adding a roof top tent and Leitner ACS rack dropped me from ~41mpg to 34mpg. The rack and tent both extend well above the top of the Maverick and adds about another vertical foot of frontal area.
  16. Off-grid camping trip this last week

It's especially fund to see the rubberneckers staring at you as you drive down the road. Crazy thing to me is driving a small truck and knowing that at least in payload, it outclasses some significantly larger trucks! The 4.3l S10 was a strong truck, but the Maverick just feels so much nicer...
  17. 2024 Hybrid battery

Totally would agree with a standard car jump start. A 12v outlet would in no way be able to supply the CCAs for a normal engine with a starter, fuel pump, and spark plugs, but my understanding with a hybrid is that the 12v battery simply needs to close the contacts between hybrid system and 12v...
  18. Off-grid camping trip this last week

Those were the Hanging Gardens of Babble-On. Essentially, there are giant rope nets below to lie on, and at the top of the tower were large flames that would bubble down on the underside of the suspended plate so you could watch the fire boil and bubble. It used propane as its source of gas. It...
  19. Off-grid camping trip this last week

Every year, I go to the regional burning man, Critical NW. It's a magical time off-grid with full pack-in/pack-out of water, food, and trash plus a mini theme camp. This year, I replaced my old S10 with my new '24 Maverick Hybrid with Airlift 1000 bags to help the rear end. On the way, there...
  20. 2024 Hybrid battery

Does anyone know how many Amps you need to supply to close the circuit and engage the hybrid battery for 12v recharging? I'm just wondering if something like that side install can properly handle the current necessary for a "jump."
