I recently started driving a 2024 Man Hybrid. Like many, I was expecting gas mileage in the high 30's, but as the Mav has broken in I'm now routinely getting 44-46 mpg on highway / city combined driving. In fact, I had to drive about 70 miles in heavy traffic the other day and by the time I got to my destination the mpg indicator showed 51.3 mpg. I know I drive like an old lady (apologies to old ladies) but is this unusual? I love it, of course!

Hard to believe a vehicle this heavy and not very aerodynamic can achieve this MPG. I love mine!

Nope. Not unusual. Heck of a truck, right?

Not unusual at all. Stop & go traffic or hilly terrain are where the Hybrid gets some of its best mileage.

Enable the Brake Coach screen & EV Coach screen (in the instrument cluster Menu), and the truck will teach you how to get even better mileage. Also google, pulse & glide Hybrid driving.
Just don't do pulse & glide where you might be impeding traffic behind you.

I too am delighted with my hybrid's mpg. I have been trqcking all of my gas usage for the last 15 months (since I got it). I noticed that for the first 6 months the MPG reported was "optimistic" (about 3mpg higher than actual). However, since the last update it has been more accurate. I'm getting 47mpg in the spring and fall with no AC or heat and 43mpg +/- in the summer and winter. Since my RAM Quad Cab got 14mpg (with a tailwind) and the Tacoma Doublecab got 17mpg (with a tailwind), I am over the moon with the Maverick.

I'm 68 and this is my first new vehicle ever. I am still nearvous about the new model dependability thing, but feeling better every day.

I'm averaging about 43 mpg between "city" driving and the highway (I-25) in ECO Mode. Super mileage! To me, and being my first pickup truck, this little truck is GREAT!

Love it. I got 42 MPG .. then I found the ECO switch and now get 44, 46 and once 47 mpg. (Drove like an old fart) This is on my XL 2023 hybrid .
Also for humor I put on F-50 stickers(baby truck) and my plates say 42MPG.
I'm saving up for wheels next .. I think my Xl wheels are ugly...

I have found that my indicated MPG is about 4.4% higher than actual, measured at the pump and using the odometer. This error can be tuned in Engineering Test mode, but I've not done that. I've been able to exceed an indicated 50 MPG for an entire fill-up (3/4 tank, 450 miles) just once, by keeping my speeds down and driving like my avatar Magoo. Heavy freeway traffic with the herd lumbering along at 30 MPH is ideal. Short trips on a cold engine will kill MPG, and cruising at 65+ runs the ICE continuously so MPG drops into the 30's. Still good.

No it is not at all unusual. My office is just about 6 miles from our home. There are two routes I can take, one is 1/10 of a mile closer. If I drive normally without regard to how hard I press the gas pedal, I have get around 78 MPG. If I watch very closely and keep the vehicle in EV Coach Mode it stays in straight electric mode for all but 1 mile of the trip to the office and I have gotten as high as 125.3 MPG.

These photos are from two recent trips to the office. One rendered 78.5 MPG and the other trip 125.3 MPG.

I have over 52K miles on my 2022 Maverick XLT Hybrid with a good 80% of those miles being highway going 73 mph on cruise control. I live in Washington state and do a lot of sea level to 3000+ altitude. So I am more than happy with my mpg. My job takes me on the road a lot. My average mpg at this point is 38.8.

When I bought mine, I had a light commute with mostly highway miles. I was averaging 39. Now I have different hours and am stuck in Boston traffic most of the time. The only advantage is I'm averaging 49 now!

I’ve got about 25,000 miles on my hybrid Mav using 87 gas. Most of my driving is on flat rural highways. I’m retired so generally try to drive at 55. I’ve found there’s a significant difference between winter and summer (in ND): 39 vs. 44. I recently drove to Butte MT and back driving the 75 and 80 mile speed limits. My average was 32 round trip, still impressive all things considered. I measure it by dividing the miles per tank to the amount put in as the estimated mpg does run about 2-3 mpg high

My best is 60.0 I use slippery mode. My 53 mile commute is about 3 miles city, 15 miles back country road at 50 MPH and the rest highway where I set cruise control at 59. If you set cruise higher than that it stays mostly in gas mode.
