I was wondering if heat alone was doing it. If so, Ford will probably be replacing a lot of those rails.
That's what I was thinking too..

My truck is also starting to develop the warped bed rails on both sides.. I want to see if my local ford dealership would replace it, but I feel like they would pull any card out in order to NOT replace it. I have a roll up tonneau cover and I also have a XTR1 bed rack, and I feel like they will try to push the blame onto me someway somehow with my installation of tonneau+bed rack and not cover it. My local dealer isn't the best /:

No idea what caused it, probably heat, but ford hasn’t offered any explanation, I’m just glad they’re replacing them. FYI, I live in Northern AZ, not nearly as hot as the Phoenix area.

Unfortunately I have to park outside in temperatures ranging from -30 to 90° f. I'll be watching my rails very closely for this.

If it starts to become a widespread issue, hopefully Ford will not only replace the rails, but replace them with some made from a "new, improved" material.

Maybe a possibility! Tonneau was installed at a lower temp say less than 50-60°F, clamps are squeezing the bed rail flange and the sheet metal and the plastic is expanding more than the metal. The tight clamps are preventing the plastic from sliding more or less than the metal.. if this is true maybe trimming the plastic to not be squeezed by the clamp. Maybe loosen clamps on hot day and see if some of the waves lay flatter. Once waves develope they may not readily flatten.

Holy Tonneau cover catastrophe Batman! This thread made me go look. It's been over 115 the last few days and my poor Mav is out in it 24/7.

I have the soft roll up Tonneau from Ford, self install. I wonder if any non Tonneau folks are getting this?

I had to look REALLY close but mine is a little wavy also. I would have never seen the present condition if this thread had not come up. Thanks! Now I'll keep an eye on it.
