Warped Bed Rails

There have been previous posts about warped bed rails affecting trucks that have hard roll up tonneau covers, i recently had my bed rails changed at my dealer under warranty , upon leaving the dealership i inspected the bed rails and they were warped again! The conclusion is that the tightening of the cover to the rails is creating the warp , so i will always have warped bed rails as long as i have the tonneau cover !

What tonneau cover do you have, how is it clamped to the factory bed, and what location are the clamps in? I only know of the Ford / Bakflip Revolver design and the Truxedo Sentry.

The Ford / Bakflip instuctions state " CAUTION: over tightening the clamps could cause warping of the bed" and state hand-tight or 10 ft-lbs of torque.

Not sure if the mechanic used a torque wrench on the bolts , i will persue further with the dealer

I have the Ford hard roll up cover and no bed rail warpage. I installed it myself and used a torque wrench. Sometimes it's better to install things yourself.

If you are talking about the black bed caps, yeah that happened on my ‘22. Not too long after I installer the BAK X4S rollup.
The rubber seal, that runs along the covers’s rail kept it sealed just fine, so I never bothered looking into getting the caps changed.
I did move the cover to my ‘25, but to be honest, I never looked to see if the warping happened on it yet.
