I know several, all at msrp AND willing to do X Plan and MFR offers. But I already have my Maverick. When I'm in the market for a second I'll hit you up.
Lol. If you say so.

I find it a bit comical people are calling out dealerships for this when even Long McArthur Ford which many of us rely on and look to for information also has a maverick listed above MSRP. They even shared that auction sites are offering $6,000+ above msrp to dealerships to buy their units so why wouldn’t they do it as that makes sense when you are running a business especially when supply is extremely limited. It also makes good business sense to list above msrp for dealerships that get a unit in for hopes of it being able to stay on their lot longer so that it can be used as a showroom vehicle or for test drives which in turn could generate even more sales and profit.

Look at it differently: last year as toilet paper and paper towels were hard to find as supply was low and they bumped prices up 20%+ pretty sure we still paid it. As the deep freeze happened and heaters nearly doubled in price also pretty sure we still paid it. Meat and eggs prices up 16-28% with a meat surge of 40%+ pretty sure we still paid it. Needed wood and freaked at the cost they were selling for bet you still paid it. Had a furnace go out and the rate went from $110/hr to $225/hr still needed heat so still paid it. Do I think there is a limit yes however this makes perfect business sense and if anyone on here owned their own dealership or really any business that has a product or service that is limited or in high demand you’d be considering the exact same thing.
Yes, I believe in the free market, and yes, I believe dealers can ask whatever price they want. However, these supply chain issues and new vehicle shortages are a temporary event. For many dealers who spend money and effort to show how caring and supportive they are for their communities, it sure looks to me like they damage their image big time to me. Some of the items mentioned above include grocery and other items which may have had price increases along the way, with retailers having to pay more, and subsequently passing the cost on to the consumer. In these cases of Ford dealers adding $8K, $10 and even the example of $15K above MSRP, unfortunately we know they paid the same invoice price, so all that extra markup is just pure extra profit.

Yes, I believe in the free market, and dealers can charge whatever they want, but as customers we can choose not to do business with them. If my local dealer was marking up to shameful levels over MSRP, when things settle back down to "normal," I will remember and will choose to do business with the other dealer down the street.

Thanks yeah dealerships like this one should be called out on their price gouging. I've only seen good positive reviews and people posting their new Mavs but I've yet seen postings on what dealerships are actually pricing them on their lots
Mullinax Ford. Sticker price. Same as build cost on Ford site.

If some buyer is willing to pay these prices...why should i care. It's not like overpriced water or plywood during a hurricane.

Difference being that the vast majority don't NEED a Maverick. We do need food and other essentials.
I understand your point. Kicker is the same thing can be applied to almost everything this past year and we just pay it and move on. There’s also people here that NEED a vehicle though as well to get to their jobs, take kids to school and daycare, etc. Buying the right vehicle is hard enough so when someone finds the vehicle that works for their situation but they need it now verses later, paying a premium comes with the territory. The issue here is people are going after these dealerships like they are garbage, scum, and shady and yet it’s business in an area where a product is limited and these markups are nothing compared to the vehicle rental world right now. Supply and Demand applies to everything each one of us deal with daily and buying a vehicle is no different.

Cant help but notice the "supply and demand" markups aren't being applied to other cars on the lot. Just the new in demand models.

Toilet paper is kind of a necessity. A new vehicle not so much. The buyer still has the power by saying “no”. We can get from point A to point B some other way.
Maybe where you live there are other options but for many vehicles are an absolute necessity. Think of how much time you personally have spent looking into this vehicle, how it will work for you, pricing, options, etc, etc, and finally deciding to place your order. Once you find that vehicle that you like that works for you to find out it’ll be months before it’s ready or you can buy one now at a markup. Maybe your vehicle caught fire and you need it now. Maybe you are starting a new family and your baby was born early where you need it now. Maybe you just got a new job but it involves packing around large display items so you need it now. There’s thousands of examples that can be used here that may make someone need their vehicle now verses waiting to pay msrp. People are attacking dealerships of selling above msrp when it’s a business and supply and demand is part of everything every day.

you kind of just contradicted yourself.… :/ “Just the new in demand models” which would be the perfect definition of supply and demand. The demand is high on a model but the supply is low.

There's a difference between need and want. If they NEED a vehicle there's the Escape and ....whatever the rest of the Ford lineup is..............that are on the lot and available with better pricing below msrp. They'll do everything you mention to fulfill the needs.
Then there's the new kids on the block, the Bronco and Maverick, which some dealers feel they can make large markups on. I doubt anyone in NEED needs something so bad to pay them. If all cars were marked up because there was huge demand and no supply then that would be a premium coming with the territory.
