Two car garage that can fit one in winter mode and none in summer workshop mode. While getting to a covered location may be best, things can get real fast! I'm thinking the Costco carpet runners my wife can't stop buying might buffer impact while staying put once soaked. Sleeping bag or anti-fatigue mat might sail in the wind coming across the Mississip...

Thoughts anyone?

Given sufficient lead time prior to the arrival of the storm, I would make use of a bundle of HF furniture moving blankets as cushioning material covered by a waterproof vehicle cover secured with additional tie downs.

If You can park up close to the Southeast side of a building, the structure will take some of the brunt of the storm.

Good idea! Altocumulus so far here but news is showing 4" hail and folks posting damage to the NW, I'm across from a building that could have me on the leeward side, might still bring the rugs

Heavy blanket to protect paint then horse stall mats from tractor supply, is what I'd go for. I could be under estimating the winds ability to throw them around but the thought is they would stay put.

How did you fare? News reports show a lot of big hail up on “da Range.” We didn’t have hail a bit further south but did get some winds upwards of 70mph.

Everything went by to the north and while I come from da range, but I'm across the river from the downtown so many storms track that way because of the "heat shield"

That’s good you avoided issues.

Short of a garage, lean-to, or other portable canopy, I’ve seen “hail protector” covers on Amazon but have zero experience with them. I’d be concerned about the cover itself doing damage from wind unless it had good straps. Might be something out there with good reviews. Might be built cheap but in reality it inly needs to “work” once.

Protect the roof, hood can be replaced easily, roof is lengthy and invasive repair. If you have no choice and have no shelter for your vehicle. A overpass will also work if you can time it right.

Find the closest drive in Car wash and pull into a bay then wait it out. Yes I did this while traveling once

What about park under that overhang across the street in your picture ? Would it fit between the dumpsters? Might get some protection. Best of luck

The urban heat island does divert the worst of the storms. If you're in the cities, nearest parking ramp is an easy solution.

There are several options on Amazon.
Search for "auto hail covers". Some are inflatable.

Camry sits outside ( maverick garaged ) with car cover on it . if hail in forecast I put old area rugs under car cover to protect it . not that often in central Florida .
