You bring up a good point. My plan was to let it get a little warmer in NoVa before embarking on the job as well.

I did my first wash today of my 25 XLT and found where a rock had hit my car. It’s pretty deep and I don’t want any rust. I would also like to avoid the body shop. Any suggestions for a quick and easy remedy?

First of all any body shop that charges you for a touch up are dirt bags unless you ask them to mix some paint for you and would never go back to, I managed a dealer body shop for 35 years and have touched up 1000s of cars, DONT use a brush my painter would use the back end of a match and DAB the inside of the chip being careful not to get paint on the original paint and as someone else said you can build it up as it dries, waiting days in-between coats. You can buy the factory touch up kit don't use the brush, there not cheap 25/30 bucks or more, Sake well ! Silver is tuff has so much metalic flake in it always come out darker nothing you can do about that. Its never going to be perfect but will be protected. Can be sanded and polished by a pro and come out much better. Solid colors like black, white, etc come out very good Silver ? not so much.
