Well now its my turn, My issues were this... I have a clunking noise in the front end at low speed. Five times they have said they couldn't replicate the issue. Except for once they said it was normal strut noise. Also in these five trips to the service department I told them about a surging that happens when cold and slowing to a stop it switches back and forth from gas to electric. This never throws a code and tries to pull me through my brakes. (also couldn't replicate). There were some smaller issues like my heated steering wheel would either cook your hands or stop heating all together.

Through this site Ford reached out to me when I was going through this and we talked about buyback. They were very helpful but the buyback team refused to help. I spoke with a lawyer and It definitely qualifies as a lemon. I just don't have the time. I am trading it in for a Toyota. I loved this little truck, but I won't ever buy another Ford product again. As far as trading in a vehicle that I know has issues? That is on Fords hands I have all of my service receipts saying the vehicle is fine. This was the 4th new ford I have bought in my life. And maybe this falls on the local dealerships that for whatever reason couldn't resolve the issues. It is what it is, and while I am sure there are more people on here that have had zero issues and that's great. I drive 30k a year and I have to know that I can rely on and not incur unnecessary costs to repair because Ford washed their hands with it.
I have had issues with clunking, surging, weird braking, switching to gas, and high rev when going down hill. All were corrected with software updates. I also had a rough idle when cold - ended up being 2 significant gasket leaks. Then there is the the computer that had to be replaced because battery sensor errors. The little things like the "chrome" tips of the window controllers chipping off were annoying but they were fixed while my truckito was in for one or another or another or another major issue or recall. I am just hoping that the Toyota Stout comes out before this thing dies completely.

Toyota say, "No Stout." In corporate double speak, that translate into "We are working our tails of on it."

I have that clunking sound at low speed over speed bumps. It is like something isn’t tight in the front left side and it clunks twice. The dealer tech heard it and told me it wasn’t a normal sound, but up on the lift they could not figure out where it was coming from. One other owner in this forum found it by attaching magnetic microphones to the struts to pinpoint which one was defective. Last I heard his dealer was waiting on the part to come in.

I own and still drive a 1995 Toyota T100 4x2 DX which is the best truck ever made (simple, cheap, with a big truck bed, super reliable, easy to maintenance and repair). If Toyota had a basic little hybrid truck like the Maverick I would have gotten a one.

To me this Maverick is a lot like the Dodge Caravan back in the day. I remember asking my boss why he kept buying new Dodge caravans every 3 years when there were way better mini vans out there. He told me he loves the way it was set up and the way it rode and drove. I said yes but I know you have had many issues including the tranny going out and he said that is why I trade for a new one every 3 years so its always in warranty. I feel the same way about my Maverick I have had every truck model ever made (except Nissan) and can tell you they were either do big, too much gas, frame rusted to fast, can't haul kids, doesn't fit in the garage ect... but Maverick Lariat checks all the boxes for the first time ever. I guess if I would of bought a 4 door Tacoma before 2005 I would of checked them all except the frame not rusting away. So I am planning on keeping this truck until someone builds a better one the fits the bill. I would love for Mazda to build one.

One thing I learned after buying the MAV is the added long term cost of any hybrid with the exception of the Prius is it will cost more to own in the lont term over just buying the same model in a non hybrid. Even with the prius owners they have to own and drive the car a lot to show a long term savings.
With my Prius, I sold it with 83,000 miles on it. Brakes still had 75% life left. Spent 35-40 dollars a month in gas instead of $700-$800 per month. My insurance was cheaper because of having a hybrid. My High Voltage battery still was charging up fine after 7 years. Didn't have to get anything major fixed on it for 7 years. Average mpg was 50. For me, the savings was huge. I expect the same with the Maverick, which has been averaging me 45 mpg in the city.

Just curious but do you think it may just be the hybrid? My wife and I have no issues with ours but it is the 2.0, not the hybrid. The reason I ask is because ours was just totaled in a storm and the only replacements we can find close to what we now have are all hybrids.

Good luck with toyota. They gave just as many issues for there new trucks.

I love my Mavericks problems and all. Most of your surging was the normal switch between modes. I had the same issue on my hybrid XL, but for 24K out the door what do you expect.

I wish you the best with your toyota purchase, it will cost you more for whatever you buy and you have the same potential for quality control.

I have had 3 new work trucks, stripped down work trucks. All Fords, worked them hard, zero problems. I've had only three brand new personal vehicles in my life, Honda Civic and Volkswagen Jetta... Flawless, no issues, and a Chrysler Neon... Commuter car for my wife, trying to give an American Car Company a shot for producing a mafe in America Economy Car... absolute junk.

So the Maverick is only my forth Brand new personal vehicle, and I haven't purchased anything new for 18 years .... Glued to the forums, I decided to pony up for the Premium Care Extended Warranty, 6 years/72k miles .. Lets see how it goes .

I can appreciate your frustration.. one bad Neon ruined Chrysler for life for me.

A lot of issues to have on a new vehicle, the hybrids seem to be more problematic than the ecoboosts.
I disagree, my experience has been only great with my 2023 XL hybrid. Have nearly 1500 miles towing my pop up and just about 7000 total miles in 8 months even had all of the recall updates with no problems. I love my Maverick and it is the perfect vehicle for my needs as a daily driver getting over 45 mpg and towing near capacity at 24 mpg it beats my 2006 F150 on mileage and ride comfort.

I guess it’s true though that fewer people go to forums to rave how much they like a vehicle than come to vent frustration.

Sorry to hear that. I also have had issues with my hybrid and Ford has replaced the half axles. It still sometimes makes a clunking noise when stopping I think the hybrid brakes put allot of torque on the drive train. We will see. I bought an extended warranty Good luck
