Hey everyone. Just came across the The Fast Lane Truck guys... (TFLTruck) posting of the 2025 ST? Uncovered Spy photos of the Maverick of which they made a video. I started to watch it and got to minute 6 where they say something interesting... that they have inside information about the fact there WILL be an AWD Hybrid version of the Maverick soon.

Here is the video link if it works...starts at just past 6:00 (like 6:10).

These guys are reputable people and not some random youtube/15min of fame person making BS claims. So I have a good feeling that if they are saying they have information, that its solid and most likely true.

Anywho, just wanted to give you all some heads up as I know a bunch of people on here mentioned if there was an AWD Hybrid they would drop their current Mav for it...and that may be coming true.

I think everyone has known an AWD hybrid was on the way it is just how much it will cost.

I assume they will limit the AWD Hybrid to XLT and Lariat and the base price for an AWD Hybrid will be north of $30k.

Weird front end design and the loss of physical HVAC controls will still deter me from any potential interest I have in AWD Hybrid. Sucks to say that, but it's still gonna be a no if that's the case. We'll see what other models look like but not holding my breath about the interior changes. They did it in the Mustangs and Escapes with those screens, so I don't see them offering anything different here. I'd be shocked if they don't screw up the Broncos interior too eventually.

Either way, I got 5 years left before I consider it, so they can have it in the mean time. Work those kinks out for daddy.

yep - with the extra gearing required it'll jump the price and that's if they can successfully wedge them in around the heat exchanger. Also adding weight to it will reduce the MPG, lump in the added decrease mpg as it'll be in AWD all the time, then consider that you're already paying $1500 more for the hybrid and the next thing you know - you may as well just buy an ECO boost and be done with it as the MPG difference will no longer be that great and you'd be saving at least $1500 by not buying the hybrid.

Yep, also what kind of towing capabilities. Also most likely an extra cost for the hybrid but also the new model year. All that and if mileage on hwy is similar to ecoboost? What is the gain? Unless your driving majority of city driving or a mail carrier. Don't get me wrong I hope they do offer it in 2025. I think it will be gladly received by many, who can utilize and justify the price difference. Unless they offer different powertrains you also lose the 8 speed transmission, 58hp and 122lbs of torque.

That would be a welcome addition to the options list but as others here have said that weird looking new front grille and virtual HVAC controls are NOT for me. I would like a brighter screen but for me it comes at a terrible price. Besides, on average I kept each of my Rangers 11 years and I am still on year 1 with Mighty Mav. :ROFLMAO:

The cheapest current Escape AWD hybrid is the ST-Line Select trim level with the only added/selected option being a $495 class II tow package - checks in at $37,180.

Ford is not going to offer the same drivetrain and chasis for 20% less. So I would expect a $33-35k starting price tag for the AWD hybrid.

Escape AWD Hybrid has a 1,500 tow capacity so expect the 2k rating for the hybrid to stick regardless of AWD or not.

The last I'd heard, TFL was on Ford's s--- list for breaking a press embargo (that was what TFL said themselves). Kind of surprised they'd have any kind of insider information. They were literally not getting any vehicles or official support from Ford, last time they talked about it.

That was a few years back. I imagine at some point Ford forgives them. They're a popular truck channel, and a lot of potential Maverick buyers watch it.

RAV4 hybrid AWD just 1 MPG worst than FWD, for city traffic still huge difference compared to ICE model

Everyone already knows an AWD hybrid is coming. Had the pandemic not happened it would have most likely been a launch option along with the full sized infotainment screen. The question is now the cost. With the hybrid now being the upgrade path and not the default I wouldn't be surprised to see a minimum $4,000 ($2K for hybrid and $2K for AWD) to get into it from the standard EB.

I also find it interesting how much faith people have in AWD or at least how much it is over estimated. A FWD, with engine in the front, is going to be capable of handling driving conditions outside the typical driver's ability. In other words, if a modern FWD can't handle the road conditions, you probably shouldn't be on it, unless it is an emergency. Simply because AWD doesn't protect you from other drivers in those terrible conditions.

Tires are more important than having AWD or not. The advancements of tires in the last 25 years has been incredible. A FWD vehicle with really good tires is going to do better than an AWD vehicle with trash tires.

Even better if the AWD has no tires at all.

Folks need to do the math. Most of you, including myself, will never come out ahead with a hybrid AWD given depreciation/switching costs you took on your current vehicle.
