Well now its my turn, My issues were this... I have a clunking noise in the front end at low speed. Five times they have said they couldn't replicate the issue. Except for once they said it was normal strut noise. Also in these five trips to the service department I told them about a surging that happens when cold and slowing to a stop it switches back and forth from gas to electric. This never throws a code and tries to pull me through my brakes. (also couldn't replicate). There were some smaller issues like my heated steering wheel would either cook your hands or stop heating all together.

Through this site Ford reached out to me when I was going through this and we talked about buyback. They were very helpful but the buyback team refused to help. I spoke with a lawyer and It definitely qualifies as a lemon. I just don't have the time. I am trading it in for a Toyota. I loved this little truck, but I won't ever buy another Ford product again. As far as trading in a vehicle that I know has issues? That is on Fords hands I have all of my service receipts saying the vehicle is fine. This was the 4th new ford I have bought in my life. And maybe this falls on the local dealerships that for whatever reason couldn't resolve the issues. It is what it is, and while I am sure there are more people on here that have had zero issues and that's great. I drive 30k a year and I have to know that I can rely on and not incur unnecessary costs to repair because Ford washed their hands with it.

Sorry to hear, understandable though. What Toyota did you trade it out for?

I just cant see getting into a Tacoma because of the fuel economy. So I chose a non hybrid Rav 4 adventure it gets 33 hwy which is close enough for me to my MAV that got between 38 and 39. Overall I feel that for long term ownership a hybrid doesn't make since for me unless gas gets to over $6 dollars a gallon. I had a 96 Rav4 back in the day and it was a tank! Time will tell.

Sorry to hear about your bad experiences. I agree that without a good dealership/trained techs, it sucks not having them find the issue when you put a lot of time/hours into it and know something is wrong. A good dealership should have figured it out and correctly fixed it and not kick the can down the road.

I at the same time feel that a brand new vehicle to market (not just a refreshed exterior/looks) should have a few issues as its a brand new vehicle and when mass amounts of them finally hit the road, issues will be found...then fixed and future years should not have issues.

I just did a quick search for recalls via Toyota and there are a few on their 22/23/24 vehicles....which they have had on the road for decades. Those recalls in my eyes shouldn't happen because the vehicle has been on the market for that long now.

This for example...
Potential Number of Units Affected 381,199
Summary
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturer (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Tacoma vehicles. The axle shaft sub-assembly may separate from the axle housing due to debris causing improperly secured fasteners. Axle shaft separation can cause a loss of vehicle stability and brake performance, increasing the risk of a crash.

This design just got a 2024 redesign and was being built from 2016-2024. So the final year or so out of 8 of that design, and still having significant issues like that should not happen in my eyes.

But either way, I hope that your new Rav4 never has any issues for you and it does seem like a pretty sweet SUV. Best of luck for you!

Similar conditions, but I'm happy. The front end clunk and cold surging don't bother me. Then again I've always driven old cars and I'm a redneck.

Sorry to see you go, but completely understand. Hopefully you'll have a better experience. Unfortunately, I'm hearing more and more that Toyota's reputation for reliability isn't as strong as it once was. All the best to you

Thankfully I have had no real issues so far in my 10K miles, and hope that I don't. I am however not overly confident I wont which is why I got a 125K mile warranty.

My thought is I would go with the Toyota version when they make it, but seems like Toyotas are losing their luster for reliability

It is so funny how we get emotional about bad vehicles. OP, I'm not trolling you. I say funny because I had exactly the same reaction to a lemon RAV4 Toyota 20 years ago. That plus a few bad sales experiences at Toyota dealerships in MA just turned me off the brand for life. Haven't set foot in a Toyota dealership since.

Now intellectually, I realize I'm shooting myself in the foot. Statistically Toyota has demonstrably superior product. But emotionally you can't pay me to ever again deal with Toyota dealerships and service departments. A few bad experiences soured me on the brand for life.

What's done is done, but not sure why you wouknd't try another dealer. Some are just terrible.
I have two in my area it has been to both. The nearest is about 90 minutes away. And now I am past my 36k mile point

I can appreciate that, Thanks. And yeah We do get emotional. For me I see buying a new car as a treat, Something special. My Mom only ever bought one new car her entire life. I have bought several, I treat them with kid gloves, do every maintenance, wash every weekend, etc. I have only ever had one other Lemon it was a 99 s-10. Loved that truck, still wish I had one. I will miss my Maverick. I won't however miss the frustration of being strung along till my bumper to bumper warranty is out.
