So our 2022 xlt has been virtually flawless up until this point. The only software recalls we've done were to address the shudder, and the touchy brakes. Can we get a thread of what recalls are worth getting done, and which ones cause more issues than they're worth?

Our hybrid did that shudder thing maybe half a dozen times. It hasn't done it at all after getting the software update pertaining to that. It's safe to say getting the software update for the shudder is a permanent fix, that doesn't seem to have caused any other issues, as such, it's one we can recommend. As is the the software update that addressed sensitive brakes.

Beyond that, this truck hasn't been touched. I could be mistaken, but it seems like it's the software updates that came later that are causing all of these issues. The loss of power, the CELs, the transmission going into neutral or park, etc. So I don't feel compelled to get these latest recalls.

I'm nervous about these stories of mavericks dying while driving, but it seems like the trucks where that's happened are the ones that have had their software bombarded with tons of changes. I'm starting to believe I'm better off just not doing any more recalls, and just preemptively swapping the standard hybrid battery out for something more robust and it'll be good to go.

Man yea that's tough, I would get the recalls done regardless as you are still in warranty and the work being done is free. Ford just released another recall for the Hybrids on May 3rd to address the problems caused by previous recalls so maybe that will solve any issues. The problem with not doing recalls is in the event that your vehicle IS affected and it causes death or injury... YOU are held liable NOT Ford. It can also negatively affect the resale value of your car if you decide to sell it with an open recall. Worst case scenario you go the lemon law route.

I was going to wait on the tail light recall until my oil change which will be several months away. Probably won’t wait that long now since this latest recall has possibly more-severe consequences to not doing it.

I booked my appointment two weeks from now when I am on vacation. In the mean time… the only time I drive in the partial darkness is to work early in the AM, so I have been backing into the driveway and parking in front of one of our white garage doors. This way I can visually confirm the tail lights are illuminated before leaving.

By consequences you mean mavericks dying while driving? This is on my mind, but it seems to be only happening on trucks with faulty software updates/recalls. It's like, man, I'm worried about having this issue if I don't get recalled, and I'm worried if I get the recall, I'm gonna get a CEL, or experience limp mode or something.

Ford needs to fire whoever did the software updates for this vehicle.

You won't get the latest recall unless they have you on record of having the previous questionable recall. At least thats my understanding.

I'm still holding off. This is absolute BS on behalf of Ford. They need to cure the "Crainal Rectitus" on all the issues that these software updates are causing. My truck runs perfect right now and I sure hate to screw that up (or chance it) on this cluster fugg.

In the People's Republic of California, my 2025 vehicle registration renewal will be blocked unless the 23E09 (emissions) recall is completed, so I can only delay so long. Given that the Maverick is a rolling computer network with 4 CAN buses and dozens of modules on them, there is "some" opportunity for a software mod in one module to impact what used to work fine in others. I think the best approach will be to wait as long as possible for these issues to be resolved and then get everything updated at once to the latest and greatest configuration that has hopefully been tested over time. God-willing, we should see some slowing of the rapid-fire recalls, but I share everyone's frustration with Ford's software QA. Problems like these with "too much technology" used to be limited to European sports cars, but no longer...

Just had the recall done the other day in my driveway by Ford Mobile Service. In fact the turn signal recall was done by them a few months ago too. No issues on my vehicle and in took only 15-20 minutes.

We have had several recalls done and plan on getting the open ones done at the next oil change.

I'm up to date with recalls on my 2023 Lariat Hybrid as of its first oil change last month. I'm at 4657 miles now. My deep sleep notices have completely stopped, and they were there often enough that I asked them to check the 12v battery at the service.

Very happy to see them diminish, the interior lights are now working all the time. I have developed the habit of always touching the handle to lock my Lariat when I leave it, as it unlocks whenever I touch the handles. I don't know if locking helps, the recalls, or what...but I'm glad to report it is all good and smooth now.

While sitting with the truck off waiting 15 minutes for my spouse, I noted that the voltage indicator I have in the 12 v dash socket was staying in the 12.4 range with the truck off. Before, I could watch it drop to 11.9 and go off nearly immediately after shutting off the truck. So there's hope. Still the original battery and the truck was delivered to me 3/17/23.

Had the taillight recall done yesterday along with an oil change. Service told me it was done . While I was waiting for the truck they said it showed the check engine light. They did the update again and it is ok so far.

I'd be curious to see how people with experience in vehicle engineering/mechanics look at the maverick. To my novice eyes, it appears as though the maverick is relatively stout when it comes to the physical mechanical components, but the software isn't up to code, no pin intended. Almost all of the issues with the maverick are software related it would seem. Which is frustrating, but it also means it's easier to fix in theory.
