All this recall nonsense makes me wonder if the Sync/Non-sync builds behave differently for turn/tail/brake lights with the BCM unit ?
I'm not real familiar with the sync system, but is it basically just a media system? I know not everybody has a smartphone, but I would be much happier if they would just leave it to Android auto or Apple carplay.

Yes and No- But the Sync 3 only came on the Lariats and seems the management of the light system and bulbs with folks that have the Lariat/LUX is a bit different and I haven't seen that written about specifically in any of the recall verbiage.

There are recalls that can be put off but I’m not sure this one is especially if you drive at night much or in stormy weather.
My lights never went off yet, but my almost no mileage 2018 Mustang has turned one tail light off several times.

With Ford's current track record on recalls, I definitely don't want Ford pushing recall updates to my Maverick overnight. I want to know ahead of time that anything they do has been well "vetted" and does not create other problems before having them applied to my vehicle.
I agree. Would be nice to be able to choose when to accept the update and it then come overnight.

Another recall, this one for tail lights. https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/ford-recalls-maverick-pickups-us-tail-lights-dark-109822246

Official Details:

The defect: in affected vehicles, the Body Control Module (BCM) may inadvertently deactivate one or both rear tail lights.

The hazards: rear tail lights that fail to illuminate can reduce the vehicle’s visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford Motor Company is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Components: Body Control Module (BCM)

Affected vehicles: select 2022-2024 Ford Maverick models produced at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant between February 3rd, 2021, and March 21st, 2024.

Number of vehicles affected: 242,669

The fix: dealers will update the BCM software, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on May 20th, 2024. The Ford reference number for this recall is 24S24.

I will wait on this recall until the battery charging issue recall comes out later this month and get them both done at the same time.

unbelievable.

11 recalls on the 22
7 recalls on the 23
4 recalls on the 24.

Guess its trending down but dont worry, refresh in 25 will bring new bugs and things will reset back at 11 or more :)

edit: 7 of these recalls at least on the 22's are for FMVSS regulatory items !
Breakout between hybrid and ecoboost, please?

With so many BCM updates I wonder if the order on which updates are done matters.

For example, if you were to do this one first and then instrument illumination and turn signal later, would that potentially cause concerns

They only need to flash the chip with the most current version.

Dealership mobile van coming to do my turn signal recall and this new BCM tail light recall in the morning. I was told will take about 15 minutes, but they reserve one hour. Will report after if anything different than what I was told.

I was told the flash will, in my case, address both the turn signal recall and tail light recall in the same update.
