Just upgraded to a full size spare (225-65-17) and it does fit tight under Hybrid XLT.

Question: what about the pressure of that full size spare, now set at 35 psi but does it make a difference if it’s set to a lower psi? no idea that is why I am asking

That was one of two options I got when I ordered! That and trailer hitch (should be standard IMO).

The tires are set to 35 psi as that is their standard intention from manual. Since the spare is now a regular tire I would set it to 35 (at least). The smaller doughnut tires are normally around 60 psi.

Why would you want to set the pressure lower?

Keep it at 35 psi.

BTW, there is no option for a true full size spare tire other than do it your self. Check the placard on the drivers side door jam for info.

I don't know what I was hopping for.
The weight difference between the original spare and this full size spare
is huge.

Good idea to keep a tire pump under the seat in case the psi goes down, or at least add one to your stash when you go on a long trip.

This is going to be interesting. Basically what is difference in weight of 35 psi air in a full size spare vs 60 psi air in a donut tire????
Also does the entrained air continue to "spin" within the tire when you come to a stop, assuming, it was spinning within the tire while you were traveling.

lower pressure = maybe less weight ?? don’t know so am asking the pros :)
Air is lighter than a feather. Keep the correct pressure in it in case you do get a flat, you are ready to use it.

Yeah, I paid the $115 extra for the"fullsize" spare when I ordered my XLT hybrid. It's not even the same size or brand as the 4 Continentals on the ground. The Door sticker even shows that it's a smaller tire. Big misrepresentation by Ford by not disclosing that when ordering truck. And the manual indicates not to put mismatched tires on the vehicle, so what is the $115 for? A temporary oversized donut? Seems like a handling & safety issue waiting to happen! And all calls to FoMoCo and dealer just get shrugged off with a "too bad, buddy" attitude & they each tell me to call the other one.
Cheesy way to do business.
If ya have time, I would do a "practice" run of getting the jack out and lowering the spare so you'll know how to do it in case of an emergency on the interstate. It ain't easy, especially with that blue cone that's in the center holding the cable. Took me awhile to see the "slit" in it to get it off so the tire was able to be freed. But that's part of being an old geezer I guess 🤣

I had an old parts manager tell me a story. Years ago, he'd hired a new guy and his 1st task was to move some take-off wheels and tires up to a tire rack. The guy'd been at this for an hour or so, so when Russ went to check on the guy he found him using a paper clip to take the air out.
Russ-"WTF are you doing?"
Noob-"each of these tires has 35 pounds of air"
