Average gas mileage........

avgCapture.PNG
Sounds about right altho mine is give or take
The Miles to Empty calculation is purely volume of gas you have compared to your recent driving miles per gallon.

Like if you drive more conservatively or in any other more fuel efficient way, the number will go up as you drive (like I drove the PA turnpike a few days ago -- and as I started going downhill my miles to empty ended up jumping 50 miles). On the other hand if you start going more aggressively, it'll drop faster too.

The only way a gas station matters is if its pumps aren't giving you as much gas -- but how you drive on your way to the gas station is probably the bigger factor. The equation doesn't know the efficiency of the gas itself and won't adjust until you've driven with it for a while.
Oh ok got it so have to drive a bit after filling up to find the actual distance it can go before another fill up

one factor not mentioned is how recently has the station changed its filters, new filters will flow faster, thus more likely to shut off earlier.

The miles on the tank will vary depending on how you drive.

The computer at fill up goes on what your last average miles per gallon was. I have had it show 354, but then climb as driving to 380.

Your driving habits, and idel time will effect what it shows. On trips to WV, from IN, I can make it 408 miles on a tank and still have plenty of gas left to go to my family's place, but I full up right when I get off the major highways. If I am not traveling around I get about 350 miles due to my driving habits and idel time, making sure my Maverick is at operating temp before driving do to my short commute.

guys, its about your right foot....not where you are getting gas
Exactly! And to those of you who will swear up and down that Brand X gas is better than Brand Y gas, I spent a good part of my youth working at a national brand gas station (which I will leave nameless), and we would sometimes get gas delivered from that brand's tanker trucks. Other times we'd get deliveries from a local ag business' trucks. Bottom line: You're not always going to get what you think you're going to get. Caveat emptor!

I believe it is based on your MPG you are getting at the time of fill up.
From watching mine change as my driving environment changes, it does include the mileage for the most recent 25 or 50 miles (just guessing at the #miles).
I drove highway from Quartzite AZ to San Diego, and then when I got back to my normal city driving the miles to empty first stopped changing at all, and then actually went up a bit a few days later. Not a lot, but enough to suggest the recent driving pattern is part of the algorithm.

The gas stops filling when it sense the tank is full! It shuts off faster because it gets full faster! It has nothing to do with MPG!

Am I taking crazy pills? Are you all just trolling here?

I didn't think it was unknown that different gas pumps shut off at slightly different times. that's why when I do hand calculated MPGs I try to fill up at the same pump before and after.

I don't know that if you went to two different shell gas stations that you'd have the same experience (gas fills to the same level) so I don't know that this OP question is answerable.

other post about miles until empty varying based on driving habits are also valid.

I 100% believe there are better gas options. https://www.toptiergas.com/

There are plenty of National Brand gas stations ( like Murphys, Sheetz, WaWa ) that are not top tier.

It depends on your MPG you have at the time of fill..
if you avg 50 you get maybe 800 miles before empty.. if you avg 30 you get less.

Dont fill with diesel gas!!
it might tell you 400 but you get maybe 5
