Ok option 1 sounds more likely just need to find one that has a slower or more even gas flow to maximize the distance to empty
Here's what I do almost every time I fill up my car: 1) Put the pump on full until it clicks off. 2) Then, put it on low and let it click off again.

That way you don't overfill the tank, but you get a full tank every time.

Your miles to empty is going to change based on your driving style. It looks at the Miles per Gallon on the last chunk of driving you've done (I think the last 250 miles -- but I haven't checked) and comes up with the number from that.

I mean, if you're seeing a discrepancy between the two, maybe check how much you're pumping at both?

That is where the variance comes in.
Ok so it changes because I use all 3 ways to get to where I have to get to than as if I was just driving city or just highway

You should probably be more concerned about buying TopTier gas than worrying about MTE.

Most Walmarts do not sell TopTier gas.

Yes, how you drive affects how much gas you're consuming. And that affects the "Miles to Empty" number.
Ok I understand how that works thank you

I'm assuming that you are attempting to explain a quality of gas from 1 station to the quality of gas from another. I'm also assuming that you are asking which big brand gas station has the highest quality of gas.

Is this correct?

No just which one would get me to 400 MTE longer miles I can drive before worrying about filling up like if I know a place is 400 miles and my truck gets 400 miles well I know when i get to my destination I need to fill up not like oh my truck only has 313 MTE hope I am not on the expressway and have to worry about finding a town with a gas station and then getting back on the expressway to go the extra miles but others have said it could be the pump it could be several factors so I am stuck finding towns along the way for a gas station and hope getting back on the expressway isn't a pain plus not running out of gas

The Miles to Empty calculation is purely volume of gas you have compared to your recent driving miles per gallon.

Like if you drive more conservatively or in any other more fuel efficient way, the number will go up as you drive (like I drove the PA turnpike a few days ago -- and as I started going downhill my miles to empty ended up jumping 50 miles). On the other hand if you start going more aggressively, it'll drop faster too.

The only way a gas station matters is if its pumps aren't giving you as much gas -- but how you drive on your way to the gas station is probably the bigger factor. The equation doesn't know the efficiency of the gas itself and won't adjust until you've driven with it for a while.
