Hey guys I am currently debating whether to stick with the spray in bedliner that I opted on or whether to have them remove that option before it gets scheduled and just take it to Line-X after I received the truck and have them use their color match I'm still waiting on a quote but I expect it to be at least double the price of the spraying from Ford, whats your guys thoughts on it? Ive gone with the Cyber Orange color scheme

For me, I wouldn’t want a color matched bed liner. I’m going to be throwing stuff back there and I’d rather not have to worry about dirtying up a colored liner, black or dark grey works for me. It’d probably look slick though if you can keep it clean.

Going to have to agree with beardedk here. Seeing a bed liner in any color than black would be like seeing a car drive down the road with blue tires. It’s just too weird for me but by all means go for it and post pics.

On second though I might be interested if they could do a bed liner to match the navy blue interior of the truck because it would still hide dirt and it would look good against the cactus grey paint. It would certainly make for a conversation starter.

Having Ford do the bedliner means no overspray concerns and they will be doing it on a fresh virgin surface at the factory. I can't imagine getting better results elsewhere, especially for the price.

My understanding is thats something that would get done at the dealer and i would be willing to bet money that the people who work at line-x have better skills then the guys at the ford dealership so im not worried about over spray. I can check on that though.

Ya i thought about the dirt and stuff but at the same time its a truck im gonna get it dirty and idc if people think the beds dirty i really dont care if any part of it gets dirty lol. But from what i understand i could clean the bed with acetone if i wanted after line-x sprays it if for some reason I spilled oil or something back there

Should already arrive sprayed when it gets to the dealer, at least that's how it is with other Ford pickups. Ford has a big robot arm that does it.

I like the way the black bed looks, so I would stick with that, but you do you! It'd probably still look good, just not for me

Yea it's a factory sprayed on liner, there has been discussion elsewhere of dealers trying to convince people not to do it so they could sell them their in house job. If you do it after market they have to sand the paint in the bed to get a good surface to stick to.

Spot on, also quality control checks before it goes out the door.

I live in a small town with no Line-X proprietor. There is 1 spray coat business, but he uses a different brand of coating. I don't think our single Ford dealer offers spray in either, but I was told a drop in could be installed there...not sure I want anybody there doing that type work for me anyways.

not just sand it, they have to grind the whole bed down to bare metal and prep the surface for adhesion. Nearly killed us finding out our 1 week old F-150 was going get all the brand new shiny bed paint ground off!

No, the only thing done at the dealer is mud flaps and wheel locks. Everything else including Tonneau is done at the factory.

Let's not forget the impact on the warranty. You're buying a brand-new truck with a 3 year, 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. Do you want the warranty to include the bed-liner and the bed? Or do you want to immediately void the warranty on the bed by having someone sand off the paint and apply something else? For me, if an option is available as part of the ordering process, I'd rather get it that way than tampering with the truck after delivery.
