Bingo this maverick is the first ecobruce I’ve had that has made it 1k miles without them tuning it. They just drive like they should. Funny this is by far the cheapest truck I have and still do t have it tuned. Put 1k on it this first week I owned it.
It’s will get done just have to find time to get it down to them.

The Maverick doesn't really have a lot of driveability issues, but you're right, the guys at LMS do a great job. I had a LMS tuned 2.7 F150 that was really fun..... high 12's & 26 mpg highway. 😁

The cost & *potential* warranty concerns are really the only cautions for anyone considering. I still have the MyCalibrator from my F150, and will likely throw the LMS tune on my Mav at some point.

I’ve run 91 from day one and have not experienced this lugging yet.
Same here...

Most of my vehicles (German) require premium, so from day one I've run premium in the EB. Runs great no vibration, could not be more pleased. Premium runs around $4.79 vs $4.59 for regular per gallon here in CA.

Thank you Gov Useless...

I'm holding out hope that (even though it wouldn't be as aggressive or solid as the 93 mapped LMS tune) Ford Performance puts out a tune that doesn't void the warranty for the 2.0EB.

i just had my EVAP purge valve replaced 200 miles ago (7,700 miles) and the check engine light is back on again for a purge valve.

I needed the EB to show me some reliability before I end my PremiumCare warranty and grab an LMS tune. So far, that's not happening.

Those damn freaking purge valves will haunt me till the day I die. Across all makes and models. I have no way to say for certain but I have long suspected they are all made by the same cheap ass Chinese company.

Absolutely, and the purge value used to be relatively robust from Ford.

I expected it to fail at some point, but well outside of 36k miles and certainly not twice before 8k miles and the second time within 200 miles of being replaced.

But, it happens.

That’s crazy all the focus guys have issues with those also. I’ve yet to have an issue I say yet as to not jinx myself. I’ll see if I can find the thread where someone came up with a better ones.

And to be fair - anyone can change out a purge valve so if that is the only thing going bad - I can live with it and the LMS tune may still be in play.

I hate spending money. I am cheapish as hell. OK, got that out of the way right off. :ROFLMAO:

Prolly the one thing and really only thing that has bugged me about my Maverick has been the low RPM vibration we have noticed with the truck. Cruising around 30 or so there are times the RPM will drop to around 1200 or so and a slight vibration and or engine lugging will be evident. Even Consumer Reports mentioned it in one of their reviews of the 2.0 EcoBoost so not just me.

"The nonhybrid Maverick pickup trucks use an optional 250-hp turbo four-cylinder mated to an eight-speed automatic, with front- or all-wheel drive. This powertrain gives robust acceleration, can tow up to 4,000 pounds, and gets 23 mpg overall, but its tendency to lug along at low revs sends annoying vibrations into the cabin.

Someone here mentioned using a higher octane gas to help alleviate the situation, so I waited until the low fuel light came on an filled the truck with 93 octane gas. Ouch!! $1.40 more a gallon for that over 87. Expensive fill up, but will it be worth it or did I just blow 20 bucks extra for gas I do not need?

After burning through 3/4 of a tank I am very pleased with the results. The so called vibration is, I would say, 90% gone if not more. Power has increased noticeably. Still monitoring gas mileage but I would guess that will increase a bit too.

Next tankful, 91 Octane to see if I get similar results and save 40 cents a gallon as well. Given how little I drive, even the 93 octane will be worth the extra money given the results I have seen so far.
1 st tank 87 octane free from dealer ran good did same experiment with 93 octane and wow what a difference so it’s been 93 since. I’m retired so the little I drive and the xtra additives in the premium fuel will benefit in the long run!! 😀

I assumed there would be some on here with no issues, given this has not been a major topic here. Appears from what I gather some have the issue, some not so much.

As a side note, my wife drove my Maverick today and said what the hell, the truck seems faster. LOL. I didn't really think it made that dramatic of a difference, but she thinks so, apparently. :ROFLMAO:

Good to know from the community here that the 2.0 is mapped for 91. That will save some bucks and hopefully keep things the same.
Great post. The mapping was news to me. After reading the manual yesterday I wasn't sure whether to routinely use 87 or 91 octane. I'm still on the first tank the dealer filled. Difference for 91 at the pump will be about 3-4 dollars a fill. I can live with that.

"Your vehicle operates on regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87.

For best overall vehicle and engine performance, premium fuel with an octane rating of 91 or higher is recommended. The performance gained by using premium fuel is most noticeable in hot weather as well as other conditions, for example when towing a trailer. See Towing a Trailer (page 267)."

Thank you. Based on our performance gain I think you will be pleasantly surprised. For quicker results, of course, wait until your low fuel light comes on if that is feasible. :)

My wife used to have a Chevy Aveo long ago. At one point it started to have an intermittent miss. I changed the plugs, but no difference. Brought it to the Chevy dealer and they said the injecters were dirty (which they cleaned) and recommended we run a higher quality mid grade fuel, which we did. We never had an issue after that.

My Rams with hemi's recommended running 91 octane fuel, which I did, but it was sure painful money wise, when the fuel mileage was so poor.

I do run the mid grad 89 octane in my maverick, but haven't tried 91 in it yet.

Thank you, I will. Do you by any chance know how much fuel is left when the light comes on?

I seem to recall 2 gallons or so when the light comes on and I also think there is a further reserve but not sure how much. I doubt it is a lot.
